Any idea how to downgrade to 0.39 was the only update all my mods worked, cause in this update none of what I have load
Hello devs, you really blew me away with your old euro semi! So happpy!!! Just one small request. These buttons on the truck should function, it's a critical core feature. They help lower the truck's front and rear axles (if fitted with air bags) to get under the trailer as you hook it up, otherwise there will be damaged caused during the process to both truck and trailer. Other bits: We could use a passanger seat system for bruckell nine after opening the trunk, as it's technically a passanger seat. Cherier sports car has a black texture here on the door. Is that normal?
Since Windows on ARM support is coming with 0.40, what about Apple Silicon/MacOS support. I know one of the smallest OS demographics on Steam is MacOS, but so is Windows on ARM, and I hope porting from Windows to MacOS wouldn't be too much of a hassle.
Dang it, I was hoping they wouldn’t disable that feature, jamming the pedals before switching cars could be quite helpful often. Overall, I’m really satisfied with this update, everything looks great! Although I feel like without the new reflections, the oceans actually look somewhat worse than previous versions. Does anyone agree? I’ve only seen this from update videos, I haven’t been able to see myself yet. Also the Nine sedan really needs a rear spare tire!
Small suggestions for the translation system, since more and more strings are now translated like brands and parts and such it might be a good idea to add a way to force a certain language when using translation functions otherwise features and mods relying on string comparisons of translated strings could potentially fail due to the user having a different language set than the developer. Not a major issue, I do realize most strings that one would need to find by direct comparison are the same across most (if not all) languages and also that for the most part you can and should just use the internal names for this purpose. And I personally didn't even run into such a problem But I do foresee some strings that don't have internal names potentially having a use. One example is brand names that in some languages (like japanese) use their own characters. This would break string matching for this brand, say if you wanted to use it as a sponsor for races or whatever. My fix for this in 0.39 was a forceFallback parameter added to the various translation functions. Example: Code: local function translateLanguage(key, fallback, forceFallback) if not key or type(key) ~= "string" then return key or "Missing Translation Key!" end if locales[language] and not forceFallback then -- forceFallback set to true skips user set language and gets translation using fallback language for _, fileData in ipairs(locales[language]) do if fileData.data[key] then return fileData.data[key] end end end if locales[fallbackLanguage] then for _, fileData in ipairs(locales[fallbackLanguage]) do if fileData.data[key] then return fileData.data[key] end end end return fallback or key end Basically just returns a translated string using the fallback english translation instead of the user's currently selected language. That way you can ensure string comparisons match no matter what language the user has set.
You can revert back to the pre 0.40 behavior by going here: Settings -> Gameplay -> General, and then under "Vehicle Behavior", enable "Sticky vehicle controls when changing seats".
vulkan feels really unstable. couldn't load into the game until i did what the troubleshoot thing said, quite odd. Maybe its pascal cards acting up again, im sure its not liking a 3gb GTX 1060 edit: yeah it doesn't wanna work at all anymore lol
Here's a question, is the new tasti-cola restock mission actually doable in 9 minutes? because i've tried multiple times, i have it floored wherever i can, taking turns as fast as i can without flipping over, cutting corners as best as i can, but the truck just can't seem to do it, too many inclines, and it just ends up spending most of those 9 minutes chugging up the mountain in 1st gear at like 5mph, slowly getting hotter and hotter, almost overheating also the mission description says there's a bit of traffic, but i actually didn't see a single vehicle other then my own
Screen space reflections have this sort of bokeh type of artifacting when light shines on particular surfaces, like the concrete of the docks in Italy. Video of the bug and me troubleshooting it, game is running in Vulkan.
I have a few bugs to report, but it's probably only mod related. So for starters, when I applied extensive customisation to the 2nd gen pessima, all the throttle and steering controls stopped working. Then when I attempted to spawn in a custom truck, my whole game and GPU crashed, (had to restart to get both monitors running again) Any help is appreciated
Linux version runs great so far, the screen tearing and stutters seem to be gone. Thank you! I did have an issue with my force feedback randomly deciding to always turn full lock to the right for some reason. It is fine for 10-15 minutes (maybe longer), then suddenly the wheel gets yanked out of my hand and refuses to do anything other than stay on full lock to the right. Nothing in the settings will fix it when it happens. I have to quit the map and reload it for it to return no normal. I have only played the new update for about an hour, but it happened twice during that time. It didn't ever do that on earlier versions or in any other games either. I'm using pylinuxwheel_0.6.1 as the driver for my G27. Are there better drivers I could use?
why is the interior camera pushed so far forward, it looks like the wheel is about 10 centimeters from the camera
I noticed cars started shaking/vibrating a lot at low speeds. It's particularly noticable when using the driver camera if you have the "Inertia strength" setting at 100% while driving an automatic car and let it coast in D at around 7km/h. Setting the "Inertia strength" to 0 instead masks these movements to some extent because the camera is locked to the car and it's less straining for the eyes. I know this is caused by the jbeam and the way tires are modelled but it would be good to find a way to mask this drawback. I think this issue was less pronounced in 0.39 because i started noticing it after updating to 0.40 edit - After some more testing seems like it's less of an issue with smaller tires probably because their geometry is slightly more dense and fine. For example if i equip 14x5.5 the issue is almost non existent
Oh yeah everytime i change a part on a vehicle, the camera always turns back to the rear, not sure if there's gonna be an option to disable that
Since I won't be able to play with the new update for a couple of days, I have one major question: overall, how does the update affect performance? I still genuinely think the graphics were good enough in 0.38, but 0.39 really did those of us who can't afford to buy new GPUs dirty, making us choose between 2001 graphics or borderline unplayable FPS anywhere with a lot of shadows. For the same reason, the simplified quality slider for dynamic reflections is scary, because I had to fine-tune the previous options a lot to maintain semi-acceptable performance without giving up dynamic reflections entirely. Instinctively, simplifying these options just sounds like it'll make it even harder to find an acceptable graphics/performance balance. (Come to think of it, does anyone know if there's a way Steam will let me play without updating? I want to write down my dynamic-reflection settings for comparison's sake.) The annoying part about games chasing graphical fidelity is that you usually can't return to the previous graphics/performance balance once they do; from then on you have to choose between vastly worse fidelity than you had before and vastly worse performance than you had before. I first noticed this with EA Sports WRC, which simultaneously had worse graphics and worse FPS than BeamNG did at the time on my 1060. I wasn't the only one who noticed, and it was a shock to a lot of people because Codemasters used to be known for making games that ran great on absolute potato hardware. But they got bogged down chasing graphical fidelity and in the process completely ruined graphics/performance balance for anyone who couldn't afford to buy a newer GPU. I really hate to be negative, but it's sad to see BeamNG going the same way.
