I've been sad about no FSR4 in native Linux for the past two days now but someone just pointed out to me that AMD finally fixed FSR4 on Vulkan literally today https://newsroom.amd.com/news/amd-fsr-upscaling-4-1-boosts-frames-image-quality/ All the way down at the bottom of the page is where the Gold is buried. BeamNG devs, please, PLEASE, do your magic FAST and drop this with like a hotfix soon.
Yep, that seems like the problem. The keys now display as keys in English too. At least I can have the Japanese translations "piggyback" off of the English strings instead of using keys, but it'd be nice if mod translation key support was extended to vanilla vehicles at some point in the near future, since piggybacking whole config descriptions is a bit kludgey.
anyone else unable to change the car used during Rally Loops? spawned in freeroam with the rally lansdale, but the Utah RL keeps forcing the Sunburst.
youre replying to me as if i dont know what any of this means, I AM aware what those do, the dlss override with model presets is for all of the features such as upscaling, frame gen and ray reconstruction and the upscaling model override appears to not work in beamng yet --- Post updated --- i want to also add that because the override doesnt work in the game we cannot override the current dlss model and force a newer version such as dlss 4.5. from my testing whatever dlss version is in the game its pretty damn good
How about having the option to disable screen space reflections for your car? When dynamic reflections are enabled, the effects overlap each other and it turns into a mess. You can notice this on the hoods. But really, all of this is just crutches. And we're waiting for proper reflections and shadows. That's ray tracing and path tracing. Are there any plans to add RT and PT in the near future?
I know I am going to get flak for this, but I have respect for these devs so I think I should throw my feedback out here before I just sit silently angry I have over 1k hours in this game, and when PS5 compatibility was announced, i was a bit worried this would mean focus would shift away from mods at least a bit due to ps5 not having access to them. I tried to remain optimistic, thinking these devs have never let me down before so why would they now. Now, the update releases, and every single mod is broken due to the new seat system. Years of community work wiped, only a few of them will get updated, many creators aren't around anymore, was this really the best way to do it? Couldn't a fallback be coded in in case a vehicle has no seats so not every single mod would be broken? Not just that but every thumbnail got changed. Why??? I know this is probably going to bother just me and 3 other people but i spent so long building the perfect "lore friendly" modlist and even changing some mod thumbnails myself to fit and now every single one of them is wrong again, and it's, once again, gonna take ages for many to update, if they ever do at all, was this truly needed? Feels like these two changes are NOT worth the damage they are causing. I understand that mods should not be allowed to hold the game's development back, but couldn't these things have been implemented in a more tactful manner? Like leaving the old thumbnails as an option, having a fallback for the seats, etc? Was this absolute nuke on the modding community really worth it? Right now, my 103 mod list is unplayable due to these issues, the seats problem destroys sync in beammp, and I just cannot enjoy the game with just vanilla cars anymore. I know many are gonna disagree with me for saying this, but this update, right now, at this moment, ruined the game for me. It went scorched earth on so many things that weren't worth losing for what was gained. If I could return to the old version, I would, but beammp won't stay back there, many mods won't either, so that's not an option, I gotta shut down the game, wait a few months for the mods to update, and when I eventually come back prepare myself for days of building a new modlist and/or testing every one of the 103 mods from the other one to delete the broken ones, many of which i'll no doubt be devastated to have to see go. I've seen many updates break mods before, but none this bad, none this sweeping. EVERY car mod is gone, was there really no way to work around this? When openables were added, you could still enter the cars without opening the doors. When mirrors were added, you could still look behind, but now with the seats, cars just dont let you drive them without seats??? My two cents, and I hope the devs hear it, this is a deal breaker for me. I'll probably return eventually, this game is too good not to, but it's still a huge huge disappointment and a bummer.
I keep running into the fact that people don't like the new dark backgrounds — the thumbnails, yes. It seems to me the best solution, if it's possible at all, would be for the background to be transparent — for there to be no background at all. Just the cut-out car, with no background, and the background could be whatever you set, on the overall background. In PNG format, basically — PNG lets you make these photos with no background, cut out.
East coast usa LOD Bug --- Post updated --- I’m not sure if there’s a way to fix this, but using DLSS upscaling makes the steering wheel look extremely rough/jagged. --- Post updated --- It’s a bit hard to see, but when the car is in motion, something like an afterimage appears. --- Post updated --- Using upscaling makes the Node Grab UI larger. --- Post updated --- In the event of an accident involving the PERCHERON, the appearance of the dashboard may be compromised.
Something really needs to be done about this dummy issue. The additional weight of the dummies absolutely requires all default configs to be updated to handle it, and it seems the devs didn't do anything. Currently all cars literally lean slightly towards their driver side, and this is causing them to pull that direction too. This is apparent immediately upon driving anything right now, even without a force feedback wheel to physically feel that slight pull, because the cars all literally do not track straight anymore. Obviously this effects light weight cars the most, and the heaviest cars pull the least, but the point is this is a real world issue, that real world cars compensate for, and sports cars especially are setup assuming that just a driver of an average weight will be in the seat, and they tend to be perfectly balanced only when the driver is present without a passenger, with the entire design of the car offsetting the CG to the passenger side, so that it lands roughly in the center when the driver is present. Since BeamNG didn't update the cars to account for this, every default setup in the game is lopsided now, while also being slightly under sprung, and slightly underdamped. As mentioned, real cars account for driver weight in many ways, and I genuinely believed for years that BeamNG's cars were already built from the ground up with a driver's weight present, because not only is their CG generally quite well centered, which is only really the case with real cars when a driver is present, but in general, the cars in BeamNG also have a total weight that's always 200lbs to 600lbs over weight, compared to the vehicle's closest real world counterpart, with very few exceptions especially for sports cars/sporty variants of normal cars. To me this meant a driver was accounted for already, and there was really no question about this, everyone who spent time tuning vehicles in BeamNG believed this, and I assumed like many that this update would finally update the CG placement as well as adjust the total weight of vehicles, to accurately compensate for having a real driver now that can get out of his seat, but I guess genuinely all vehicles were just overweight by design, and no one cared enough to actually do this whole addition of the dummies correctly, because none of the changes were made that seriously have to be made for the game to feel right. Anyways this additional 200lbs is in all vehicles now, this means cars that were close to being accurate to their real world counterparts are now noticeably too heavy, and cars that were already too heavy are now way too heavy, and since it's offset towards the driver side, and nothing has been adjusted to counteract the weight, it genuinely has gotten to a degree that it's as if a 400lb person is in the driver seat of a real car, and now not a single setup in the game is balancing out that weight correctly, and you can instantly tell, especially if you plug in a force feedback wheel, or previously had configs built for performance driving, because those especially feel drastically different due to them having more aggressive alignments, weight reduction, and often min maxed/perfectly balanced setups, that now are quite noticeably off due to the dummy. There is no question that literally everything feels worse, and it's just a nightmare because quite embarrassingly, this has made the driving experience, for all these new PS5 players and old players alike, the worst it has ever been. Now as with any weight, this can be tuned out, and for things like racing configs, it just means stuff's gotten heavier, and while it sucks, and it's not realistic because the cars are already too heavy, the real issue is that non adjustable suspension is being used across the board for most default configs, all of it is setup wrong now, and you can tell. If this didn't really effect force feedback, and the cars still tracked straight, and the weight just maybe made the underpowered cars a little slower feeling, I'd be fine with it, but it's immediately apparent, across the entire game, because everything is accurate and every change matters, so because nothing has been setup with the driver weight in mind, that's how the cars drive now, and it's a mess that seriously needs to be fixed. The correct way to fix it is also not a realism setting in the options menu to toggle the dummy off, or removing the dummy entirely. It's clear the dummy is here to stay because of split screen, so the rest of the game just needs to be updated. All cars need to get lighter so that they're right on the money with their real world counterparts, and all cars need to have their designs tweaked so that they balance out correctly with a centered CG when a driver is present. Also the complete disabling of vehicles without a driver seat or dash just needs to go away. Whoever added that doesn't play this game like 90% of the player base plays this game, and if you keep that for realism, then that REALLY needs an option in the options menu, like the realistic ABS one, to fully disable that functionality. This has caused so many weird problems, ruined so many competitive speed running tunes, and prior to the first patch ruined/bricked all modded cars. EDIT: Now this seems to have been possibly partially fixed, things are working again if the mod is without an occupant at least for me, and then the cars that are still broken somehow have occupant seats and dummies but won't pass inputs through. The dummies and mods just don't seem to mix period and it's hit or miss if a modded vehicle will work at all. Anyways regardless, much like how many modded maps are still screwed up because of the sky box stuff, more care needs to be taken to keep backwards compatibility with mods, there needs to be a way for a mod to like opt into these features somehow, and otherwise function without them, and seemingly no system for this exists. I don't think there's even an argument that it should exist in this game especially, since now you just can't remove specific parts, but the massive amount of issues it's causing needs to be accounted for immediately. Anyways there's way more weird bugs, the clutch being reset to 0 when you reset a car also needs to get fixed, and this update is just a nightmare right now, so please fix the game correctly eventually, and roll back at least the weight of the dummies, and the disabling of controls until it's implemented properly, because this is complete a mess, and I just want to play the game, and not have to deal with modding things back into a better state myself to enjoy it.
One thing that has been bugging me the most that I haven't seen anyone talk about nearly enough is the inclusion of the new player model occupants. Normally I am pretty quiet about things but now that this is directly affecting my mod I just can't keep quiet about it. For multiplayer, sure I think that they are perfectly reasonable and add some nice visual fun to the game. But for single player, freeroam, solo missions such as rallies, it is completely unnecessary. Many of us have finely tuned vehicle configs and missions that were designed for specific uses and times. Just being able to turn off the visual of the occupant is not enough. The weight of them is still there. I know that you can remove them in freeroam using the seating menu within the vehicle config, but this doesn't work for rally missions (I've not tried other missions yet, but I can only assume that it's the same). Rally missions in particular are affected the most as now there are 2 occupants in the vehicle. This destroys the performance of lower powered cars and as someone who loves to rock up in a rally stage with a stock Piccolina, this is now a huge hinderance. I would love it if the devs could add a toggle to be able to remove the occupants completely from all single player modes in the game. Not just visually, but completely. As my favorite activity to do within the game has now been rendered useless, and it's quite disheartening. Maybe I might be missing such a feature but right now I just don't have the heart (nor the time) to go through and reconfigure every one of my configs and rally missions to adjust for the sudden inclusion of 178 kgs to the vehicles.
upscaler in Vulkan is not effective. If you turn the resolution to 100% then back to a lower value such as 50%, the content will get blurry but the FPS stays low
That's the nature of temporal upscaling and had nothing to do with it being AI. If anything AI solves those issues. Plus it's not that bad. --- Post updated --- DSR works fine with temporal upcalers. It's a bug or an engine limitation
There is such a fallback in place but apparently it's not enough due to how some (or most) mods are made, when they mix vanilla and mod parts. We will hopefully make a better fallback for an upcoming hotfix
You are exaggerating, a lot of them still work. We tested a bunch of mods before release. We just happened to miss this one case, that is apparently very common, and we will fix it.
I managed to download the older version via steam console ! See you in a year lol. To the DEV's remember that this crappy creation depends mostly on its open core and mod community that makes fun out of it.
I've linked the wrong one, sorry. The EU has implemented the same regulation for trucks as well though: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:42026X0746 (search for 5.2.1.30.2)
The time of day selection in mission settings doesn't work, at least in time trials and rally stages. If you select anything other than default, it resets to it as soon as you start the mission or tab out
what i would like to see is the ability to actually change the render scale without enabling any aa and upscalers and for that slider to go all the way to 1% i also noticed the 33% and 66% scaling options dont do the right resolutions, for example 33% scaling at 4k should be 1280x720 but its whatever number that is. decimals like .3 and .6 are missing to have those rounded numbers
