Beta Recovery Rig — Ropes, Straps & Attachable Ends 0.9.0

Tow, recover and tension cargo with flexible ropes and ratchet straps.

Recovery Rig — 0.9.0 Public Beta
Flexible ropes and straps for towing, recovery experiments and cargo tensioning in BeamNG.drive. Pick a rig, attach each end independently, and watch the load as you pull. Webbing straps also have hold-to-retract and hold-to-extend controls in the included app.

    What is included
    • Tow rope, kinetic recovery rope and flat webbing strap, with different stretch behavior.
    • Lengths: 2, 3, 5, 8, 12 and 20 metres.
    • Four breaking-strength settings: 10, 35, 80 and 160 kN.
    • A small Units button switches the app between kN and kgf and remembers the choice. Equivalent strengths: 1,020 / 3,569 / 8,158 / 16,315 kgf.
    • Three diameters per rope material and three strap widths. 72 ready-to-spawn presets; 216 textile/size/length/strength combinations through Vehicle Configuration.
    • Solid metal bow shackles or latch hooks, independently selectable at each end.
    • Independent End A and End B attachments to vehicle nodes, including cargo props. Searchable vehicle/node lists, highlighted points and live attachment distances.
    • Retract and Extend on every webbing strap: spawn at full length, hold to adjust, release to lock, and stop tightening at 75% of the selected strength.
    • Live peak-segment load, overload breakage and Reset rig.

    Installation
Keep recovery_rig.zip zipped and place it in your active BeamNG user folder's mods directory. Find that folder through Launcher → Manage User Folder → Open in Explorer. Remove older Recovery Rig ZIPs or unpacked copies first so only one version is active. Restart the game and make sure the mod is enabled in Mod Manager. No additional mods are required.

    Quick start
    1. Start Freeroam and spawn your vehicles or cargo props.
    2. Open UI Apps, enter Edit Apps if needed, and add Recovery Rig.
    3. Scroll to SPAWN NEW RIG at the bottom. Choose material, length and strength, then click Spawn rig. These settings configure the next spawn. Use Vehicle Configuration to change an existing rig or its fittings.
    4. Select the rig in ACTIVE RIG. For End A, choose a target vehicle and an attachment point. Closest tow point helps find an exposed hitch or tow eye; Show node highlights your selection.
    5. Hold Ctrl and drag the metal end near the highlighted point. Watch the distance/reach message, then click Attach A. Keep the simulation running while it connects.
    6. Repeat for End B. Attached fields lock until detached. Cancel stops a pending connection; Detach releases only its own end.
    7. For webbing straps, hold Retract to take up slack and build tension, or Extend to release it. Release the button to lock the length. For ropes, move the towing vehicle gently to take up slack.
All straps adjust at up to 0.3 m/s between 25% and 100% of their original length. Reset rig releases both ends and restores full length. The ratchet changes the simulated webbing length; it has no visible reel or buckle.

    Beta notes
Tested with BeamNG.drive 0.39.4 on Windows. This is a public beta, and feedback on other vehicles and game versions is welcome.
    • The ratings describe simulated breaking force. kgf means kilogram-force, not supported vehicle mass or a certified working-load rating.
    • Sharp twisting or folding can distort the woven texture. Metal fittings remain rigid, but the surrounding textile is a deformable mesh.
    • Mass, collision width and stiffness are tuned for stable simulation. Long straps are heavier and thicker in collision than real webbing; a 20 m strap is about 41 kg in this build. Strong settings can stretch more than real straps.
    • Use exposed tow points where possible. An internal frame node can be hard to reach, and the vehicle's own node can fail before the textile. Bodywork collision and large attachment distances can make a connection unstable.
    • Bending, unequal loading and sudden pulls can break a span before the displayed peak load reaches its nominal axial strength. For two full-size pickups, start with an 80 kN (8,158 kgf) rig and take up slack gently.
    • Leave clear space for long rigs. Adding several long rigs increases physics work.
    • Attachments target spawned vehicles and props. Fixed map objects are not supported as anchors. Resetting or deleting a connected vehicle requires reattachment.
