Experimental Precision Cannon 0.1

High-Precision Cannon Variant

    What is it?

In an effort to increase precision, this mod makes the following changes to the Old Cannon:
    • Reduced Recoil - The launch mechanism has been changed to reduce recoil. This increases precision by ensuring the cannon base doesn't move. Slow-motion may be necessary to give the game engine enough time to calculate a smooth launch, depending on CPU speed. If the cannon lurches forward at launch, apply some slo-mo.
    • Elevation Restoration - When fired, this cannon saves its elevation. When the cannon is reset to reload the cannon ball, the elevation is restored. This greatly increases precision by giving the ability to send the next shot almost exactly* where the last shot went.
    • Variable Launch Force - In the Tuning menu is a slider allowing the launch force to be set from 1 kN to 1840 kN. The 1-kN setting does little more than drop the cannon ball out of the barrel. The 1840-kN setting sends the cannon ball across the map. Variable launch force doesn't necessarily increase precision. It does, however, increase the total dynamic range and maximum range.
If used correctly, the Precision Cannon can hit the same spot over and over again. There is a demo video for the Precision Cannon HERE.

What do you mean when you say "almost exactly*"? (see above)
There is a camera attached to the cannon ball. Look through that camera when respawning a cannon. Notice the vibration immediately after respawn. This vibration decays, but never completely stops. This introduces variation into cannon shots, so successive shots should land close to each other, but probably won't land exactly in the same place.

      Thank you for the review!

Yeah, a howitzer is pretty much what I was going for.
      :)
