“What is RAL?”: “Reichs-Ausschuss für Lieferbedingungen und Gütesicherung” (RAL) colors are used to define standard colors for varnish, powder coating and plastics. It is the most popular Central European color standard used today. The colors are used in architecture, construction, general industry and road safety. Both Volkswagen, Porsche, and BMW have used and continue to use RAL samples to develop some of their colors, particularly the VW Spectrum program and the Porsche Paint-to-Sample program.
