ETK 800 Active Body Control V5.4

Fully Active Suspension - One of the Most Advanced Beamng Suspension Mod

  1. PotatoCubes
Creator of ETK Comfort Plus here!

I couldn't sleep this weekend, so I decided to make a fully active suspension for the ETK 800 similar to Mercedes's Active Body Control. No it doesn't have road scanning but it does prevent your car from diving, squatting, and rolling.

    screenshot_2026-06-26_16-27-34.jpg
    Features:
    • Active real time roll and pitch correction
    • Variable ride height settings (via the tunings tab)
    • Two ride height presets (high and normal)
    • Active rear wheel steering (depending on the drive modes)
    • Mercedes E-ABC style curve mode (Gives more oversteer)
    • Mercedes style free driving assist (Bounce Mode)
    • Fully active dampers
    • Adaptive swaybars (optional)
    • UI App to see the Active Suspension Activity
    • Auto Leveling! (Only works in neutral or park, while stopping, and at a flat surface)
    • Fully integrated with the car's infotainment screen
    - In comfort mode, big and small bumps will practically feel the same. It's like you're hovering slightly above the ground!
    - Sport mode, and etc will make the car handle flat, even without swaybars!

    Please Read the Following:

Check your keybinds if the controls are not showing.
If the mod doesn't work, try clearing the cache or disabling other mods. I repeat DISABLING OTHER MODS.

    Note:
    • Please wait for the self leveling system to settle after spawning / respawn
    • Equipping this part will make the car heavier. Everything has its pros and cons. You wouldn't win any races but at least you'll cross the finish line in comfort lol.
Auto Leveling will Automatically Calibrate on First Spawn.
If the ride height sits weirdly (ex. too high) try to recalibrate.
    Recalibrating the Self Leveling:

    Step 1: Stop the Car.
Step 2: Straighten your Steering Wheel.
Step 3: Put it to Neutral.
    Step 4: Release your Brakes.
Step 5: Set the Ride Height to High.
Step 6. Set the Ride Height to Low.

For further information, read the changelog at the bottom of the page!

    How it works:
    • It has a controller for each corner that adjusts compression, extension, and stiffness based on the car's g-force in real time. When braking, the controller lifts the front end and lowers the rear to help it stay flat. It works exactly the opposite when accelerating. Similarly, when taking corners, the outer side lifts but it also stiffens, while the inner side lowers.
    • At high speed, the spring will be stiffer and the ride will lower gradually up to 160kph.
    • The active dampers also react based on the gforce, and speed of the car (in comfort mode).
    • It also reads the current level of vibrations. If it detects a harsh bump, it will stiffen up all four corners to mitigate body motion in comfort mode.

I've made my mod compatible with his.

    Default car:
    Screenshot2026-08-12123926.png
There are two ride height presets:
    - Normal Mode

    screenshot_2026-06-15_12-26-21.png
    - High Mode (Max speed is 60kph)
    screenshot_2026-06-15_12-26-37.png

You can also adjust the ride height manually:
    BeamNGdriveScreenshot20260729-22583800.png
You can control the base height and the high ride height multiplier for the front and rear. The system relies on the self leveling to control the ride height.

Disclaimer: Setting the ride height too low (front below 25% and rear below 33%) is not recommended.

There are also two curve modes:
    (Both speed is at 95kph)
    - Extra Curve Mode Disabled
    screenshot_2026-06-15_11-46-24.png
    - Extra Curve Mode Enabled
    screenshot_2026-06-15_12-15-13.png

To equip this part, go over to the parts selection and under front suspension - rear suspension, equip the Active Body Control:
    Screenshot2026-06-15123834.png
Front and rear sway bars are completely optional

User interface to show the ABC Activity (add them manually):

Warning messages that shows on the infotainment screen:

    Major Changelogs:
    New in version 1.1:
    - Added Mercedes Style Free Driving Assist (Bounce Mode) (Max speed is 20kph)

    New in version 1.2:
    - Added Rear Wheel Steering

    - Added adaptive comfort-sport swaybar (ported from my ETK Comfort Plus mod)
Note: Using a stiff swaybar will make the curve mode quite useless.
    - Fixed the broken adaptive dampers (based on drive modes)

    New in version 2.0:
    - Overhauled the active roll correction

It's now drastically more responsive than before.

    New in version 2.2:
    - Added an extra weight (roughly +-190kg) for refinement
    - Swapped the steering for a quicker ratio
    - Fine tuned the rear wheel steering transition

    New in version 3.0:
    - Added 3D models

    New in version 3.1:
    - Overhauled the dampening system

In comfort mode, the dampers will now actively adjusts based on these variables:
    • Speed hits above 120kph,
    • When cornering,
    • When accelerating,
    • When hitting harsh bumps to further mitigate body motion.
    - New active rear wheel steering
Rear wheel steering has three modes:
    • Dynamic (High Speed Stability) (Comfort and Sport Mode): Goes the opposite direction to the front at low speeds (max 10 degree), and goes the same direction as the front at high speeds (max 4.5 degree)
    • Agile (Oversteery Characteristics) (Sport+, TTsport+, and ESC off): Goes the opposite direction to the front and gradually disables (threshold: 60-120kph)
    • Disable (Drift): Rear Wheel Steering will set to disable in drift mode
Rear wheel steering will also disable when transmission is set to Park, ignition is switched off, or auto leveling is calibrating.

    New in version 4:
    - 70% of the code has been reworked
    - It now features Auto Leveling

Only works in neutral or park, while stopping, and at a flat surface (to prevent the calibration process correcting to a false value).
    - Refined the ABC Behaviour
    - New Active Body Control Activity UI

    New in version 4.2:
    - Prevented the rear suspension from sagging down on first drive after spawn
    - Adjusted pricing for career mode
    - Disabled the rear wheel steering in 2WD mode
    - Further improvements on the active roll and pitch correction
    - Further improvements on the self leveling system
    - Adjusted the default pre-calibration height
    - Fixed an issue where the suspension won't react after setting the ride height to high while stopping on an uneven terrain

    New in version 4.4:
    - Made the comfort mode waft more like an S-Class
    - New default wagon config
    - Updated to match the new vehicle selection menu

    New in version 5.0:
    - Added warning messages that shows on the infotainment screen

(May not work if you have some type of gps or infotainment mod)
    - Adjusted some variables
    - Sport mode is now stiffer

    New in version 5.1:
    - Improvements on the infotainment messages
    - BMW style warning and malfunction chimes

Credit: @StrictBark for the lua source code
    His mod: https://www.beamng.com/resources/start-up-and-warning-chime-pack.35948/
    - Fixed ride height preset inconsistent between front and rear when vehicle is moving
    - Added more malfunctions (ex. jumping the car and landing too hard, or a brutal crash)
    - Added active spring rate controls
    - Suspension will lower at high speeds
    - Fixed an issue where the Infotainment screen sometimes load as file not found or no texture

    New in version 5.2:
    - New infotainment messages (Boot up screen, DSC ON, and DSC OFF)
    - Some fixes
    - Tuned the default toe angle if RWS is equipped

    New in version 5.3:
    - Fixed some grammars on the ui message and the infotainment message
    - Fixed pre-equipped rear swaybars for the rear wheel steering

(I forgot to delete the line in the jbeam file lol)
    - Adjusted the recommended minimum lowest ride height message
(The minimum recommended is now 25% at the front and 33% at the rear)
    - Fixed the active roll correction over correcting at high speeds
    - Made the active spring rates react quicker
    - Improved the overall active body control behaviour
    - Hopefully fixed compatibility issues if paired with other mods which causes the rear suspension to break
    - Yet again, improved the ride height behaviour while vehicle is moving.

(I was calculating the math wrong thus making it go a bit too high)
    - Reduced my mental health, and now I'm closer to being insane
I have a lot of college assignments to be done but screw em. This is more important lol

Hello, friend. I've been using this mod ever since the day it was first released. I really love this mod, but after a certain update a while back, it became unusable — there's an issue where the rear ride height can't be adjusted. I've tried reinstalling the mod and clearing the cache, but the problem persists. It would be great if this could be fixed. If possible, I can send you screenshots. The in-game error message is as follows:
Ride Height Malfunction Detected.Suspension is Not Responding to Self-Leveling Commands, Please MoveForward and Stop in Neutral to Recalibrate

I will try and find a solution for that since two users have reported this issue. I personally haven't experienced this problem. Have you tried disabling other mods? This seems to fix the other guy's issue. It's kind of difficult finding the problem when I can't recreate it lol. Send me a picture of the console by pressing ~ on the keyboard.

The dash malfunction is expected if the ride height tries to correct but the car ain't reacting, so that's actually a feature.

I really like the idea of this mod, and with the driving I have been able to do, it feels great, I just don't know why the rear sits so high up, ive let it sit for 5 minutes and its still sitting high, ive tried the keybinds, idk

Hi! can you DM me some screenshots?
Btw you can set the suspension height in the tunings tab. The auto level is wired to that slider

This car drives like nothing else in the game so far. It just bends its self around corners like crazy. This sort of complex ABC system is something I hope to see in the base game at some point (unless it is already and I just missed it).

I only have one small, insignificant nitpick, which is that the cars thumbnail and categorization in the car selector menu hasn't been updated to maintain consistency with the other configs in 0.39; but again, that is a very minor nitpick, and the mod works fine otherwise

Right.. Completely forgot about that. Next update!
Oh I've also made the suspension more wafty in comfort mode in the next update. Stay tuned!
