Unsupported Driven To Destruction: Eve Events V2.2

Take part in the demolition derby events in Driven To Destruction...in BeamNG.Drive!

A long time ago, in the realms of the PS2, lied a game called driven to destruction (also known as test drive: eve of destruction). It was a demolition derby focused game and in it were various game events around these derby cars. One such event was called the whip around race. This is where you would need to complete so many laps but after every completed lap, you would turn around and go the other way.

Since then, I have begun doing some of the other events and, at the moment, these are the events that are in this scenario pack:

    • Whip Around Race
    • Point-To-Point Race

As BeamNG has little unique events like this with demolition derby cars, I though that it was time to rectify this problem. So, without further ado, welcome to the Driven To Destruction Eve Events!

    Disclaimers and problems known:
    • (Big disclaimer incoming: The AI are not very smart and will go slow or crash into each other - not much I can do about this at this time)
    • Also, you will need a decent computer for some of the scenarios as there are upto 8 cars loaded at one time.
    • Important info: following some information from WBR, make sure that you restart BeamNG drive so that you have no trees in the scenario. If you have trees in the scenarios, then you need to restart the game and reload the scenario.

As of version 2.2, you will need the Mankato map (also based on Driven to Destruction) for some of the scenarios to work. Get it here: http://www.beamng.com/resources/driven-to-destruction-mankato.1292/

Thanks to Scepheo for the AI code - much appreciated :)
Also thanks to Torsion for the help with the Gauntlet AI event code (currently a testing scenario) :)

I can't - the AI WILL NOT got to the last checkpoint because they think they have already got to it meters before they actually do. Sorry but it is a limitation with the AI at the moment

Fun, but the pigeon race would have been better with covets. Also, the dust is a huge issue, and the AI is retarded. Not your fault, though.

Not much I can do about the dust as I can't edit the terrain in a scenario and yes the AI are stupid as hell ;)

If only my PS2 was working...

    RIP PS2.

I had a game that was similar to this. Crash 'n Burn for the PS2 had Kamikaze races where half the players would go one way, and the other half would go the opposite direction. This reminds me of that. But these scenarios has a few problems:

    1. The dust. My frame rate died when the cars would kick up the dust, and that was the disadvantage one. I suggest to have it on a asphalt road.

    2. I was disappointed to only see 1 other AI car in the SBR4 scenario. Add at least one more.

    2. I know the AI is out of your control. But I suggest that you make a scenario on what I described above. If you have one half go in one direction, and the other half go in the opposite direction, this will cause more mayhem, and they won't get stuck turning around since they aren't turning around.

I did enjoy these scenarios, but it's does need a bit of work.

      1. The dust is part of the challenge, like it was in driven to destruction.
      2. The SBR event was meant to be the starting "easy" event to introduce the player into the event type.
      3. Already planned this event type as it was called "the suicide race" back in driven to destruction (one problem I foresee is how the game will recognise who wins at the end.

Thank you for the feedback though.
