This is my longest running mod, and I'm tired, so updates will be slow. I've tested this with 4WD, and FWD, not every solution is perfect, and strange exhausts can have lots of leaks. It's the price to pay if you want an universal mod that's "quite easy" to use for beginners.
INSTRUCTIONS--
Export your car with the "car name" set to the zip file name of the car you want it for, or common (doing either of these will make your car not-shareable on the repo). Or have this mod unpacked, then drag basically everything except the lua folder from your exported automation mod into the common directory in this mod (common makes it usable for every car). I'd suggest clearing out mods when you're not using them.
Now that you've prepped, start BeamNG, select your car, swap their engine for the automation mounts (ignore error), take out your automation exhaust (or it'll flop on the ground), then;
1) leave their transmission in, take your automation transmission out
2) take their supplied transmission out, leave yours in. Change the transmission>drive type if one is available (mostly for only fwd cars), or transmission>drive type>driveshafts to "4WD driveshafts", and put in whatever diffs you want, then make sure the car doesn't already have those diffs, and replace the spindles if needed (almost always needed).
the finishing touches explain a lot more in the second half of this brief stream - https://youtube.com/live/VqliO5_Ielg?feature=share
