1990 Patria 120 Berlină 1.01

A post-communist Romanian premium car

The story below is fictional, of course. There is no real car company named Patria.

1989 marked the end of the communist era of Romania. Now, Romanians were tired of the obsolete Dacia 1310 and they were looking for a much more upmarket vehicle.
That didn't stop a smaller Romanian manufacturer to try and create a better car, one that actually had power, was reliable and safe and it didn't cost a lot of money. That company was Patria.
Although the car designs looked a bit old, the Patria 120 was equipped with a 2.9 litre V8 engine, developing 155 HP and 230 Nm of torque, more than any other Romanian car available at that time. It had ABS, rear wheel drive, a premium leather interior, fog lights and a hydropneumatic suspension for a comfortable ride.
The car was an instant hit, although the first two or so years didn't show great sales numbers. The car was popular enough to also receive a break (estate) variant and the company is still building new cars, proving that Romanians can build great cars.
