With VanBus being part of Horizon Motor Group you can expect they will find a way to stick a high horsepower motor in something that was never intended to be fast. In 2018 Horizon assembled two teams from their truck division to take part in a drag race build with two identically modified 72 Vanbus's, besides the engines. Even the transmissions and rear ends are exactly the same. They were fitted with modified Vetter headlights and had the rear wheel tubes stretched to fit the massive street slicks. Skinny wheels and tires were added to the front so don't expect much in the turning department. Although street legal they are built for drag racing. One team was given the same motor used in the Holden TT Drag models then later in Horizon SS Trucks. The other team was given a brand new test diesel that is showing up in 2020 Horizon 2500's that are releasing before 2019 even gets here. Has to be a sales pitch. Rumor has it if you hold the hand brake and release it as soon as you nail the throttle on a well prepared track that you could hang the front tires to atleast the 60' mark. The race has yet to take place so we are excited to see which team wins.
