Yeah, its easy to replace the textures, and I have a complete set that I used with Grand Valley Speedway. The problem occurs when I try to make a separate zip file with a patch that includes the unsanctioned original GT banners. Most of the time the game doesn't read the patch files first and loads the ones in the main map's zip file. I deliberatly setup the S-turn and several other spots like after the first tunnel to be like a rally stage, where there's little room for error if you drive too aggressively. There are subtle traps setup everywhere to destroy cars. Its quite a shock if your used to GT's smooth invisible boundaries and this race track leverages the game's physics to get the most fun and challenge. Once (if ever) there is full network multiplayer, Id like to make a safe version for league racing, with more barriers and safe runoffs, but for now it seems prefect for keeping things interesting.
I find that added brutality something that makes it much more interesting when hotlapping, it adds some of that fear element one has to fight IRL constantly, which often is missed in sims that are too safe, 160kph and touch guardrail, car does not get even a scratch with full realism settings on, what is the fun in that, there is no thrill This is probably the most perfect track to do hotlapping, while it is in a way easy, it is very difficult to get perfect lap and that braking zone to first tunnel, that is really a challenge to get right, especially with cars that don't like to do trail braking, like all with rear biased weight balance.
Ewanc updated Trial Mountain with a new update entry: New banners, graphical fixes, plus big terrain update. Read the rest of this update entry...
thanks! I told the admin about it so it can be renamed correctly. Yep, up next will be an add-on that overrides the repository file for the banners. I just haven't got it working with this level yet.
I swear I cleared cache correctly...pretty sure...but the curbs are still glitched (super dark textures and says no texture) And a part behind the starting line also is no texture. I'm guessing this map was fixed and I'm just stupid.
Are you sure there is no other Trialmountain map in mods? There was a typo in filename so new one is not going to overwrite the old one? I did check quickly whole track and everything seems to be working fine, so that might be issue if you are absolutely sure you cleared correct cache (I have cleared wrong one few times, there is so many of them with several versions etc ).
So many caches? All I've done was pressing "Clear Cache" when opening the game through Steam. And yeah, I noticed there was a typo in the name.
The misspelled one is the one you want to keep. Judging from your picture, you kept the old one and are experiencing the bugs from it. Collin said it wasn't an issue as long as you were subscribed and it auto-updates because it removes the old one regardless of name change. unfortunately, If you download it manually and have both, it will probably only read the old one because of the name being lower alphabetically.
Clearing cache that way should handle the active one, I usually clear just certain folder inside of cache so I won't mess up my projects. Ninja'd by Ewanc that date indeed indicates old version of the map.
Aah, alright then. This isn't the repo folder by the way, but I understand. Should I just take the map out, play the game/clear the cache, then put the map back in and play the map or will that still not work?
Deleting the old ZIP file should be all that's needed. You can delete the cache folder for TrialMountain1 as well if you want.
Alright then...soooo I cleared cache, redownloaded it, and even deleted the trialmountain folder in Documents and now the screen is black. The UI still appears though. Whenever I aim the camera up in free cam it begins flickering. Just going to guess this has entered the game glitching now.
While fixing this map up I ran into a really annoying problem with flickering grass and bushes. I tried a bunch of different things to solve it, but all involved deleting the ground cover completely. This problem is also very bad on the Automation map. I got horrible flickering in My Summer Car while in view of the Satsuma, so its not isolated to this game. I did some research and found out that its a video card driver bug and had to roll back the driver to last February to get it to finally go away. I'm using Radeon card and the winning combination is the 18.2.1 drivers. Edit: if this doesn't work, or you can't use old drivers; turn grass density all the way down in the graphics settings. it's hidden in "custom" settings.
I understand that this is a mega bump, but the map still loads, the only issue is that the textures for the trees use the old EC USA file paths in the material.cs, I went through and and manually went through and updated the material.cs paths, but now it seems that the map has lost its thumbnails, and perpetually loads. I can upload the material.cs logs tomorrow morning if need be. ///////This bump is because I am trying to make it work with the new v0.21 textures.///////
You may need to unzip these, because they were all "material.cs" so I combined them all into one zip folder. --- Post updated --- @Ewanc THESE ARE ONLY THE MATERIAL.CS FILES MEANT FOR EWANC, NOT A FIX.
here is a version with fixed textures i did a while back and forgot about, it's maybe not the most efficient fix but it seems to be fully working from what i can tell, it includes all the "missing" textures inside the zip now so files size has doubled, but it should in theory be future proof
