alright definitely, thanks for your help , the C pillars did have an issue right where I put those m15 or m16 nodes whatever it is i forgot. I'll make them into one.

Everything sounds good, I saw nodes on the pickup lower than the rear wheel well but i think thats a different situation because of the frame design

I wasn't sure how closely i needed to follow the body lines of the car, I was going to add more for the rear to fix that. I'll work on it all today before I worry about suspension.

    Thank you !

    always have been

Thanks, and actually its not forza model anymore, its another one but no difference anyways.

I tried to stay light on the nodes and looked at the fullsize (crown vic looking car)gabe made and how he laid out the nodes.

Basically the node/beam structure of a vehicle is a low resolution approximation of the vehicle's structure. You've made a floor out of a box section but it's too much, you wanna represent the sills with a single beam. Here's a cross section of the Ibishu covet's Node/Beam at the B pillar to help you out.

    CovetCrossSection.png

The beams highlighted in blue are the main structure of the ibishu covet at the B pillar. What's left in green are simply the supporting beams that hold the structure stable. It's just 1 beam and the box in the middle is representing the tougher part of the covet's unibody chassis where the "chassis rails" of the unibody would be. You car is unibody so you kind of need to replicate this. You can see how it may work if you "extrude" this into 3D.

    Gotcha,

I may remake the whole thing or adjust what i've already made. The node editor is a great tool but isn't completely user friendly yet so its a bit much to redo the whole thing, but i'll do it if it means realistic damage etc

I just had no "guidelines" to go by when i started this, i got some words from mythbuster but without something visual its difficult because I was never a rigs of rods modder , i just found that game last year , and i looked at the structure of the marshall in game and in the node editor, thought I was pretty close here but i agree there is some areas that aren't right.

Thats okay, im better now and more able to do this faster and the right way, i like my node naming structure and my jbeam is very organized also, so if i do it again it will only get better.

uhm , i see dark green and light green and red nodes.

    blue ? ;)

Searched online for this game you mention, I cant find it. Is it an acronym for something? All I am getting on google is the Disney movie "Cars" game. Just wondering since that car model looks so good, im sure the game must be worth checking out.

Oh, yeah I remember seeing this a few months back. I don't know, that game looks really promising (obviously soft body is probably not the physics it uses) amd it is indeed very pretty to look at. Hopefully its worth buying, Im always down to try another new car game. Im so stuck on Forza 5 and this game, I need a change of scenery. BTW anyone who plays let me know, Ill give out my GT on XboxLive

I used blue in Photoshop when I made this, who knows. I may have stumbled upon an optical illusion

ya forza is okay, try this game out before u buy it IMO if it was so good we would of all heard about it everywhere. asseto corsa is popular and IMO that game sucks too.

haha maybe it is blue but from what i can tell its green, i knew what you meant tho. i opened that cars nodes up in the node editor and took a good look at them

well i've made some changes to the jbeam structure im just a little turned off right now

got a "warning" tonight personally sent to me via gabester for making a "useless" post in another thread about multiplayer.

i don't mean shit to anybody here, but i paid for the game and i've been actively and aggressively promoting this game and turned a lot of users from using the pirated version over to buy the game etc.

I'm not saying i am worth anything here, but im just a member trying to help build a following, and it seems like more time is spent around here complaining and getting caught up in legalities than it is sharing info and helping each other.

idk , if one of my administrators spent time sending out warnings to members on our forums over stuff like that i would probably tell them to relax, its just the internet.

i can't afford to get banned because i need to learn more, but at the same time whats the use if im just gonna get kicked out anyways.

    sux

Has it really? ... I remember gabester ( dont quote me on that ) saying that you have to make your own models from scratch or your model will be deleted.

listen, you can read the thread because you're not the first person to bring this up. i've never seen such drama like this

this is something i was trying to do was LEARN, and then create a TUTORIAL for N00BS to get into MODDING easier than what is currently out there.

The things I found out so far, and the tools etc far surpass what I was able to read in tutorials and the wiki, they are missing so much information. If I complete this project i think it will turn into the most comprehensive n00b friendly tutorial for beamNG modding.

You and others can get all caught up about this model like it really matters that much, i hope its worth it. I'm just here to help that is all, I need some help to get started but I didn't think that was too much to ask.

I can make my own mods with whatever models I want, if I release them on THIS forum then that is a little different.

Please, no more about this , let me record my progress and ask questions here and i promise this forum will never see this evil illegal mod.

I feel kinda useless because I'm just making the model while drowsy does the hard work. I really would love to get a good grasp on jbeam. It doesn't really seem that hard. My next project after my ATV I'll probably need to learn jbeam. Thanks for some of the advice and tricks I've learned from reading this thread so far.

thanks man, i dont know much either but im getting there, i'll do my best to compile everything i've learned when im all done. I don't like when there is a lack of info available for people who really want to learn but aren't as talented or available enough to learn themselves without any guidance.

Singh, thanks for this. A noob video would be awesome. These fourms have some unfriendly people. Because of that people leave and take their models and knowledge with them. I hope that does not happen here. I wonder how many hostile replys I get for just saying that.

my bad, i was all frustrated because i feel like everybody was trying to give me a hard time when i was only here to do one thing, learn.

it wasn't your post that got me all uptight just a combination of posts.

i haven't done anything with this in a few days, i'll try to get back into it.

haha you caught me at my best moments too LOL

how you doin buddy, glad you found this game, how did you hear about it?

    - - - Updated - - -

i appreciate it, im gonna relax. i was acting to uptight myself because i hate being treated like a random asshole but i can't expect anyone here to take me serious until i start doing stuff.

I'll do my best to get some good info together !

Your doing a great thing, jbeam is definitely the main thing that is keeping people from even trying to START a mod, because mesh construction is easy enough but everyone knows that jbeam is tricky, and very intricate. At least to the common gamer. If this tutorial you are trying to compile turns out good, (so it shall, as it seems you are doing a lot of trial and error and learning a lot along the way) then you will definitely be heralded as a great community member. There's enough tutorials on the web, youtube, and on here about car creation in 3d modeling, but the node-beam structure is really daunting. I back you 100%

(don't worry about the warning from gabe, I got a warning for "bumping" a post. no hard feelings im sure, especially with all your good work)

    More power to ya!

Been following it from the beginning. From the first Cryengine tech video. :D

I am glad you are back at it singh. I got as far as a "jello" model of my car shell in game. I have been reading gabesters dev blog car workflow. Started modeling a lowpoly mesh and trying to make the mesh similar to what gabester shows. Looks like the jbeam structure is going to be a big learning curve for me but just a few weeks ago I knew nothing about modeling or jbeams so this is still real fun. Thanks to you and everyone else who posts helpful things.
