I was planning on making this map for a good while now and was thinking "I should make an all in 1 map thats got everything motorsports." Now I am making that kind of map. For now this is a heavy WIP map but you should get an idea what the map will look like. This will probably gonna be an all flat map (at least the roads) because when I try to smooth the roads for elevated tracks, its bumpy no matter how hard I try. Here is what the process looks like. Spoiler: Pictures Main track and rally cross routes Rough terrain offroad course Small track (for go-karts or for drifting) Dual oval tracks RC park (WIP obviously) Rally course TO DO LIST Green=done but will be tweaked when needed. Blue=WIP *=planned but not sure if possible for me. Red=not started ------------------------------------------------- -Terrain -Road decal -Pits -Terrain material (like asphalt and grass for example) -Walls/Barriers -Rc park -Rally course -Trees/Scenery -Time Trial sessions All Done!
cool, as for the smoothing, make a mesh road that does what you want it to do and then use the terrain to mesh tool.
I tried that but it is just not smooth enough with that. Maybe I'm not doing it right or something. I'll try again sometime.
I tested it quickly and it kinda vibrates alot with the f1 car. People wouldnt mind the small bumps would they? it is with 0.1 break angle. The reason Im using the f1 car is to tell the bumps a lot easier than using the default car and looking at the suspension.
never had a issue with this method you might try spacing nodes a bit further apart but it might not work.
I found the perfect height-map for this map. Not sure if you can tell from the picture or now but I have mountains that fits perfectly with the track. Yes there are some parts that are uneven but that's minor I think.
After the terrain struggle for a couple days, here's what the map looks like so far. Before you ask, yes there's no more sand traps for now because of all the terrain struggles. Changing terrain height map removes the sand, grass and asphalt.. At least I finally know how to sculpt terrain.... I think.
I should mention that today (april 25th) is my birthday! ____________________________________________ Now ontopic. I tweaked my template for this map to have more rally cross possibilities. This is probably the first time I posted the picture itself about the template. Try and find as many routes as you can! It don't matter if its onroad or offroad.
BIG PROGRESS! Still not even half way to finish yet since I didn't set where the physical asphalt is at yet. For now the grass is asphalt for testing purpose til I am comfortable with the roads. (also was having fun with the rough terrain offroad course. lol)
Great progress so far. Got barriers all over the main track. I think I am half way done with the map. The oval dirt area is gonna be the R/C zone. That picture above is before I started working on that area. Here is the real progress below.
Got the figure 8 track. About the baja track.... technicly its this. It is a rough terrain course if thats what you are asking... If its a point to point baja track you mean then I dont have any more room for that.
I haven't done anything to this map in a while because of a few games updated a couple weeks ago and I ran out of motivation since. While I'm here, I updated the main post to have a to-do list so you can see what I am currently working on. I will try to update them often.
