A new car is always a big thing in this game, that's what the game is mainly about, duh! The freezer is just a little surprise prop for breaking the ice (pun intended) while waiting for the update! Hope it's also got cans/bottles of Beambeer and Tasticola inside and they're part of the fridge's Parts Selector! I think one of the biggest news besides the new car is the artificial map lighting by way of working street poles. It would be amazing seeing this in maps like the East and West Coast USA, they're unusually dark without such lighting during nighttime.
What if the "sound overhaul" that was mentioned by someone (i dont know who) is included in the update. It could be one of the "bigger things" the devs are working on. Maybe i am thinking to far but idk
Back on topic. I am just gonna wait until we have actual stuff to talk about. What's the point of this thread if we have nothing to do. I suppose we wait
Don't forget that devs mentioned that they come back to 4-month release. And obviously they want to introduce more content than before. Literally, 99.9% of the community on this thread is kind, but just a bit too over-excited. I bet devs are having always a laugh reading through this thread. I'm wondering if they play bingo when we try to guess what the new car is.
I think ppl in this thread are quite civilized still and one of the most sensitive threads since ots about new updates. Hell, its almost 2000 pages and we only get the occasional 'im angry' post which is swiftly shut down by others, that for the day woke up on a better side, in this thread. Good job ppl and remember; the worse you behave, the less do you seem to care about BeamNG.
I think if the update was not close. Some DEV will tell us so. or at least Sorry guys it will be maybe late dec or jan or what ever. AND the Creator Program. Also looks like the NEW pessima gets AWS
Hmm.. maybe I am wrong. and your are right. maybe I shouldn't focus on the bad stuff. I just felt mad because of how wild this was going. Anyways have a good day and I will simply wait for the update! even though I don't play the game anymore It's still one of the best games I ever have on my steam. Who knows years from now.. when this game is launched. Maybe we will look back on this thread and remember the early access days. Who knows when I have a job one day. maybe when I am back from work. I could just play the full game.
Stop whining, there's plenty of stuff to talk about! What specific demographic is the new car? what is this big feature they've been talking about? a quick list of things the "big feature" could be: Vulkan rendering- this might be getting properly implemented soon, but the fact that it's already being publicly tested and is one of those "boring back-end" things to the average fan, I doubt this is the "Big thing" they're referring to. something graphical (global illumination/raytracing?)- the fridge picture does seem to have some spicy lighting effects going on, and with PBR having been implemented last update, maybe they're on a bit of a roll with visual enhancement. Officially supported Multiplayer- As has been said before, the problem here is not technical (two groups of modders have already figured out a reasonably stable multiplayer system), but for BeamNG themselves, the problem lies in making the program run securely, moderating it, performing server upkeep, etc. Jbeam Visualiser-This was mentioned/teased probably over a year ago now, if it's got the ability to edit JBeam intuitively, it will be a game changer for modding, and probably for creating official vehicles as well. (perhaps they've borrowed some code from the automation devs to have some way of automatically adapting a base structure to fit a mesh? probably not). Sounds: -Audio Raytracing- TDK's mentioned it a couple of times, and it's what they're waiting on to implement convertibles, but I can't really see this holding up the entire dev team. -Simulated engine sound samples?- TDK mentioned they're working on something "on a whole other level" rather than recording engine samples the way Forza does, this would likely be something more accurately simulated and intertwined with the physics engine. Career Mode- I kind of doubt it, I feel like the 3.0 UI redo would be done and got out of the way before going on to design the likely UI heavy career mode. On that topic: V3.0 UI- This was teased something like four years ago now, and we've still heard nothing, all while the 2.0 "Material Design" main UI slowly becomes more and more anemic with every new feature piled onto it. the actual groundwork of the UI presumably has already been laid with the world editor and such, leaving pretty much just the front-end stuff, so this may be less a case of "too hard" and more a case of "lower priority than these other 5 things".
I mean, beammp not being able to make a non-buggy mp doesn't mean the devs cannot make a non-buggy game.
Who said they would release a multiplayer that is made the same way as BeamMP? I think they would rather go for a LUA-based one like the other multiplayer mods, and that would hopefully be less buggy. And knowing them, they wouldn't release it until it's playable with only really rare bugs sometimes.
honestly, the new car (from what i've seen in the teasers) doesn't really feel like american muscle. it kind of reminds me a bit of a Hyundai, but that might be a stretch. the comparison might be a bit vague, but i feel like it does have some similarity, which would be great cause Hyundai's sedans are pretty cool dont ask why there are words on the image its the first one i could get my hands on
More I look at the car, it reminds me modern EU sedans than anything from Japan or US. Especially after yesterday's discussion that the car has many body similarities with Volvo s60. This doesn't have to mean anything, but with changed update content this year we've got so far US and Jap cars. With how EU car brands are diverse in each country, I wouldn't be surprised to get new brand like Jargl.
I'm just gonna point out that the steam autumn sale is supposed to start today, so there is a small chance that the devs wanted to release the update alongside the sale. I don't exactly remember but I think one or two of the previous updates have come out a little before before or during a steam sale.
What i mean with that is it's probably going to take a fair amount of work to make it smooth, accurate and mostly bug-free, which might be too much work for the devs since they have the rest of the game to think about too
