I think no! Since (see yold yoututbe videos) if BeamNG uploads a video of an update which is not out yet, then we have to wait a few days or weeks. So July is possible - or this week?

I see the update not coming this week, but in the week or two after.

    My reasons are as follows:
    - Steamdb gets updated multiple times a day in the week or two before an update (bug fixing), this has begun over the past couple days.
    - We have a full update quality trailer for PBR, with version number and everything. Those only drop a week or two before an update at most.
    - On the BeamNG tech site the devs mentioned wanting to update tech every 3 months. It would make sense to update tech and drive around the same time, and it's been nearly 3 months since the last update.

It doesn't make sense for the devs to update the game on a friday, since they will have to start fixing bugs that the community found almost immediately and a weekend definitely would stand in the way.

So, I‘m wondering. Will PBR solve the problem of glass looking strange under water?

probably not, its the same kind of problem when you have dust particles along with the windows/light lenses, two transparent objects is a bit weird for the engine to render i think.

It's usually around Tuesday, right? So that means that the update, if it were that week, would be on the 13th, but since no one likes 13, they might wait till 14. I think if that week, the 14th is the way to go.

I reported the bug on one of the update feedback threads ages ago and one of the devs said they were looking to fix the glass transparency issue once PBR gets implemented or along with it I can't remember.

that would be great. glass, dust, smoke, lights and other stuff showing on the wrong layers really ruins a lot of screenshots

I've noticed and discovered some things recently that are quite interesting pertaining to Jungle Rock Island. This could all very well be coincidence and not be indicative of anything so please do not treat this as fact.

Remember how in 0.22, West Coast, East Coast, Utah, and Italy received new garages and dealerships? JRI never received any even though it is just as large as the former three. JRI also completely lacks any gas stations. This would mean that JRI would be missing three key locations likely needed for it to be a traditional "free roam" map for career mode like the four aforementioned maps.

However, there is something quite interesting located in the files of JRI, a mockup of a town called "japan_test". This completely lacks collision and is extremely low poly, obviously being just a mockup for reference. This has been present ever since the remaster was added.

It has what appears to be a garage and a gas station.

There is also what appears to be a car dealership.

As you can see, the main three locations that one would assume would be needed for career mode functionality are present.

Besides that, there is more to the town. Across the street from the garage and gas station is a canal with a bridge crossing over it. I would assume this would connect to a river of some kind.

The central part of town is mostly composed of small to medium sized houses/shops that have the shape of many newer Japanese buildings.

On the far side of town there is another garage and some building with multiple garages (maybe a fire station or something?)

The "town" is not very big, and besides the areas shown just has some docks.

This on its own is very interesting. A town in JRI would add a lot to the map, and a Japanese town at that would be extremely interesting.

Although license plates claim that JRI is set in Hawaii, JRI bears very little resemblance to Hawaii. There are also numerous WWII era Japanese military installations across the island (bunkers, airport, etc), and even a wrecked Mitsubishi Zero bearing their livery. Hawaii was never under Japanese occupation during WWII, so these would not make much sense.

Another thing to note is that most buildings on the map are just copied from Industrial Site. I find it quite strange that JRI uses a lot of buildings from another map (that are also seen on Derby Arenas too).

There is a chance, albeit small, that JRI could be getting additional work in a future update, and given the things I have mentioned, the developers could be very well considering Japan for the setting. What we saw in 0.21 could have been a "phase 1 remaster" focusing on the foliage and layout improvements, and a later update might add more points of interest and a possible theme change.

Some other interesting things to note:
    • The upcoming Ibishu Wigeon is right hand drive, and possibly JDM spec. If this is the case, this would be the third Japanese domestic market vehicle in the game (alongside the Pigeon and Miramar). I find it very interesting that we have three vehicles for a market with no respective levels.
    • Although this probably means absolutely nothing, JRI was completely absent from the new PBR trailer. The only other maps not seen were Cliff and ETK (which are both very dated), and Derby Arenas. Even Small Island and Industrial Site made appearances. I find it quite odd that the most recently released remastered map was completely absent from the trailer. One would think that the developers would want to showcase their most recent remaster in a trailer all about how good the game looks.

As I've said earlier, this could all very well be coincidence and not mean anything whatsoever, in fact that's most likely the case. However, I still find this interesting enough that I want to point it out.

Will we have colorable wheels after the next update? instead of preset colours for certain wheels?

maybe have a need for speed style of paint control?
    different types of shine/gloss
different amount of flake, pearl etc for not just the car body but even the accents and wheels and stuff.

Well that's some quality speculation we got there! I'll add my grain of salt: maybe JRI was originally supposed to be an island near Hawaii, but now, they decided to make it a more Japanese-oriented map...

According to Hutch the original inspiration for JRI was "was a combination of some mountain roads from where I grew up, some roads in (I think) Taiwan and a bunch of tropical places.".

Obviously the devs won't do Taiwan for a variety of reasons (mostly political), so I can see why Japan is/was being considered (and let's not ignore its very iconic automotive scene and vehicles).

BeamNG isn't for sale in China anyway, so they don't really need to worry about that, but I think agree, likely a Japan thing. Maybe we'll get a Tokyo map soon too
