Zoom out restriction from the new update sucks...

Why can't I zoom out very far any more? It's locked to a certain distance and I want to disable this as soon as possible, because i liked it the way it was before and I hate the new restriction on it.

What i mean by this is that previously, zooming out had infinite distance, this makes it easier to have a good look at your surroundings without having to use the map feature.

Please add the zoom out restriction to the "Camera: Orbit" options menu so I can disable it. Don't say "performance reasons" as my computer can handle it! It did so in the past... and it will now!

 

Made an account just to voice agreement with this post. I had only just figured out how to fix the new change where the camera is affected by solid surfaces. Now this. Far camera zoom is a more convenient way to navigate maps or see things from interesting angles without going through the hassle of getting into freecam or the map.

Rest of the update and game is great, but this is a huge minus now in my opinion.

This is an old thread, but the fact is that the update 0.31 broke my camera with this problem.
I cannot zoom out more that the following image in orbit camera (or any camera):



Any suggestion?

I have the same problem, also, random error 0x00000001 after 0.31. Game installed from Steam

 

Maybe theres a way to fix the orbit camera to zoomout to greater distances using notepad++. if anyone knows how to do this with notepad++ or purhaps through blender then im all ears. Please help

 

I dont think the backing out (or zooming out) the orbit camera has much to do with the FOV (field of View) settings... hmm, does anyone have the answer to fixing this zoomout limit?

Found a way to increase the ZoomOut Limit. There is a Camera max distance value in the orbit cam lua file found under lua/ge/extensions/core/cameraModes/orbit.lua



I've included a zip file with a file that increases the limit to 10X of default. To install extract the file and copy the lua folder over to steamapps/common/BeamNG.drive.

 

May I ask what the actual value name is just in case the file gets reverted in the next update?

 

By the way, what was that map you were using in your first post? It looks big.

I believe this may be some sort of bug. I was playing yesterday and it randomly was letting me zoom out unlimited, but now it's not doing it today, with no rhyme or reason. Same car and map, no settings changes. It's very annoying, I liked zoom the way it was before the update.
