I used these two cars because they look the same and there both Mid Engine Sports cars from the 80's, but I know the MK1B is pretty good from what I heard, so what about the worst one, the MK1A which had transmission problems. While the Fiero had fire problems. Fiero MK1A I would pick the Fiero because I want to die in a blaze of glory
--- Post updated --- But maybe the Fiero if I have only a choice of these two. You can make fake Ferraris with it.
Since I own an Mr2 AW11 you can guess the car I would take! The Fiero is nice looking, but apart from that inferior in every possible way to the Mr2. Fieros are heavier and feel a bit "Clumsy", not well balanced and underpowered, mostely because of their gearbox (4 gear which somehow was very popular) and unspectacular Engines. The Mr2 on the other Hand is like an affordable Lotus Elise. The Engine is very reliable and because of the extreme light chassis does perform astonishingly well for what it is. The Engine is very rev-happy and predictable. Combined with the amazing Handling this car is the best Performance/Joy for money on the market! Mine has uniball coilovers and semi-slicks and is capable of unbelievable corner-speeds. Nothing beats lightweight and propper Handling! I've had quite some cars over the last 10 years, but the Mr2 (which was my first car) still is in my possesion. I couldn't find anything (let alone in that price-range) that could come close to the Handling and joy the Mr2 gives! The Fiero is still a nice car, don't get me wrong, and I think that it's looks are absolutely gorgeous and classic. In the end, it's your choice what kind of Driver you are and what suits you the most! I'm sure, regardless of which car you choose that you will not regret it
Absolutely! Snap-oversteer, relatively neutral over-/understeer tendencies which is not really predictable at high speeds, no ABS with very little weight on the front axle (they lock up easily in corners), mid-engine in rainy weather... There are many possible ways to kill yourself in one of these little cars. Then again: I've known people who nearly killed themselves in a smart. There are limits, Personal and physical ones, those types of cars just happen to join many of them if being pushed too far.
Now that's a difficult choice... MR2 looks better than the Fiero, is faster and more reliable, but Fiero wins in handling (less oversteer which I hate). Most Fieros that exist today have been modified to decrease fire risk and are very unlikely to catch fire. Even if a fire still happens, there is little life risk, as you can just stop and exit the car (which you can't do if spinning out in an MR2). I guess I'd stick with my current car then, but if it wouldn't be an option for some reason, I'd get over the "chinese supercar copy" design and take a V6 Fiero.
Sooooo... in the end it's just a simple choice on HOW you want to quit Earth?!? Catching fire or catching a three. Hope that helps making up your mind @nosraenyr kcirtap kcin
I guess it's an urban legend! It would probably need to be soaked in gas to burn so quick that you coldn't leave the car in time and die. None the less, it's very sad if your car burns to the ground A Fire extinguisher is never a bad idea Funny fact: A lot of Ferrari 458 italia's burned down because of melting glue that dripped on the exhaust. The Ford Pinto even went so far that they refused to reinforce the rear end of the car (the gas tank would burst in the case of a fender bender and catch fire) because paying of the victims would be less expensive than recalling and reinforcing the model.
really hard choice for me, but i voted fiero. i would love to have an mr2 but given the choice between a fiero and mr2, i'd have to pick fiero
The Fiero's fire problem was a breach in the firewall that could be fixed rather easily via parts that were sent to dealers by Pontiac.
