    Have an OBD scanner? Try bringing that with you and scanning the car.
    If the owner doesn't let you scan it then just walk away from it.

    I don't think it has been registered in Russia. What goes there stays there. Cars go like this: Western Europe/USA-Baltic States-Russia and then it's the end of the line. Very, very small number of cars go the other way around.

    I wasn’t gonna buy it. Just saying that a lot of cas go to Finland then to Russia.

    No. There are no bans on older cars in Finland, people don't view cars as throwaway objects (there is a lot of cars aged over 30 still on the road), so there is barely any export flow, especially to Russia. Finland has very strict car import rules that your typical cut-and-shut German luxury car doesn't comply with.
    Cars from Western Europe and USA are shipped to Russia through Lithuania and Poland.
