I was just wondering, as beamng will be staying in T3D for the foreseeable future, will T3D ever be able to look like cry engine 3? i ask this a graphics are a big part of my gaming experience.
    -things to be included-
    -dynamic reflections
    -better performance
    -better shading
    --better environments
    -ease of use

hope this is in the right section and helps.

I don't see a reason why it can't come close.

Dynamic reflections is one thing I'd like to see implemented at some stage, and I suppose planned stuff like OpenCL and the OpenGL port (maybe) would bring about some performance increases.

As for better shaders, there's improvements coming in the next update. There's a few screenies from the devs floating around the forum that look really good.

Better environments and ease of use will come with time I guess.

In terms of just graphics it's hard to find an engine as good as cryengine, i don't really see t3d catching it, also cryengine would kill pc's even more then t3d so i'm happy with it, this game is about physic's anyway not graphics.

Some of the recent screenshots (in development) have certainly changed my view on the engine; it shows that it isn't all that far away from Cryengine. You have to admit, the recent screens have looked pretty beautiful and the map artists have made some fantastically realistic scenery. I have very high hopes for Torque, the devs on both the BeamNG and Torque front are more than willing to put their time and effort into making the engine seem not so distant from the more advanced engines that have millions of pounds worth of play money. :)

shame cryengine looks like crap ey? too much postfx for my liking, way way too much, I never knew a grey wall could look so vibrant

    EDIT:
oh, thats what it comes down to btw. Give both engines the same model data and it will be rendered the same in each. They only differentiate in efficiency of various algorithms and the postfx on offer, so contrary to what I just said, it doesn't look like crap and neither does torque3d, it looks like the way the developers set it up to look like (which in the case of crytek games is generally too much postfx)

Does it need to be? If T3D fits BeamNG perfectly, then there is no need to be like CryEngine really. Sure a few improvements here and there are good and appreciated, but T3D is already a great engine.
