Why does this happen to flashlights?

    Just shining my flashlight and noticed this halo in front of it. Why isn't all the light going to the wall but is like being built up infront of the exit hole where the light is? Weird question but it had came up in mind.

    Fairly sure it would have something to do with some of the light being refracted by the internal mirrors and focused at the point you are describing as a halo. Its probably a cheap flashlight too, so i doubt much money went into R&D to solve the problem.

    It is a cheap flashlight. It's not a problem, just wondered why some flashlights have that.
