Yup, CPU. Cheap solution would be to buy a good cooler and attempt to overclock, more expensive would be to replace it with a better performing model (something on the Intel side if targeting 60FPS+ w/o overclocking)

Actually, the phenom can perform better than the recent FX line sometimes. I think Hati has a phenom and it works fine. All I know if is Shift+U. Turns off UI, and UI causes even my 4670k to lag out.

Thats because the ui isnt gpu accelerated yet, so that's running on cpu and taking away precious cpu performance from the physics engine (fps difference is different for everyone, i gain half of 1 fps personally)

The reason for non fx cpus sometime performing better is its only the fx-series that has low single threaded performance, the rest have semi-decent single threaded performance (still not as good as intel, but better then fx-series)

I run a 3.4ghz AMD athlon 2, almost the same as the phenom. Still struggles under t75 and even moonhawk causes a notable decrease. But everything else it runs fine (up to 3 vehicles really though, I have one of the freaky weird triple cores)

Maybe it is your graphic card because i have the same processor and a radeon HD 7770 vapor-x graphic card.
