Where is your career profile stored?

I managed to wreck a career profile just by loading WCUSA in freeroam and then loading that profile again. It at least doesn't spawn the camera under water anymore (EDIT: never mind it did it again), but it also no longer spawns a car by default, and I can't get it to do anything that might spawn one, including enter the garage UI.

I would like to find the file for this profile in order to at least try to fix it. I had a bunch of missions 100%ed that I'd really not like to have to do again.

    In the balls

If you check Documents - BeamNG.drive then keep clicking 'Moved Here' there should be a JSON file named permaMissionProgressLog.json, I think this is what you are looking for

    That's not it.

I actually think I found it, however the issue is above my level. Opening the console gives a couple of repetitions of this:

Im assuming that when the freeroam was activated and then returned to the profile, it failed to reload the proper campaign markers, such as the garage. Looking at the LUA errors it seems to be focused around some missing campaign clients. It appears that the save file data itself may not be corrupted but the actual campaign mode itself is missing the proper mission launching files, such as the UI and mission markers used to interact with the missions and the garage.

Is there any chance you have a mod installed that could be conflicting with this? If so, disabling it might allow for a proper campaign launch if the game is redownloaded (Im assuming that the save data is stored with beamng instead of locally on the hard drive but I may be wrong so make an extra copy of the mission progress file just in case)

    That's the funny thing

It was loading just fine earlier today

If I create another save, that one will load just fine, as long as I don't load my main save first. Same mods enabled, which by the way are pretty much all maps

If I load another save first, then my main, it spawns the camera at the garage instead of underwater, but without a car

Brute-force editing which vehicle I use as my default didn't work

Even overwriting the entire save file with a copy from my backup HDD didn't work

Hmmmm, it might be how the save file itself is communicating with the launcher, with the save-file specific mission markers where missions are locked/unlocked, most likely those being removed/overwritten. Either way im not entirely sure it can be fixed without completely dissecting the save file itself and replacing the missing and damaged mission components of the save file

I've figured out it's something to do with the camera. I've come so close to fixing it with the world editor and yet the camera just won't attach to a vehicle (or be moveable by any means other than manually positioning a car and pressing F8) no matter what I do

Weird, will the mission markers work even if the camera is fixed?

Yes, I got them to work with the camera still messed up. Activating the garage, using the camera settings, etc. won't move it either

I'm going to try loading a different map in Freeroam (which I know works) then loading my file to see if that jogs it somehow

No, that just seems to cause eternal loading screen

I'll use the world editor to drop the car at a mission that gives you a different car

    Progress has been made.

If I load up WCUSA in free roam first, then load my career save, it will load without a car, but the camera will remain where it is and functional

Then, if I go into the console and spawn a pickup, I can use the normal controls to get a camera that travels with the vehicle, reacts to engaging/disengaging map, etc.

Heading to a mission marker next, wish me luck.

It works, though interestingly, no traffic spawned on the way there

I'll finish the mission, then we'll see what happens after

UPDATE: finished mission successfully, but the end screen didn't come up. My result was recorded successfully however. Got out of the mission by Esc > "Abandon", successfully spawned back at start in the truck I'd used to get there, haven't seen any traffic yet.

Console shows "couldn't stop mission, it's not ongoing" error for, presumably, when I finished the race; then the same error vomit afterwards

Possible that when the mission starting script was corrupted, the mission end script was also corrupted, leading to the mission being unable to end due to no end process being fully intact

    UPDATE:

Was able to reach garage and change cars as normal.

Completed four more missions, but all had to be ended manually. Sometimes, after I finished, my car had no FFB (which is something I noticed earlier when it was seemingly working properly, along with missions that should have been there - the ones I just completed - not being).

No traffic ever appeared, when it was appearing earlier in the day.

If I go straight to another file, it works fine. Spawning in the right place with the right car, traffic appears, the works.

If I then go back to the wrecked file, it spawns me properly with the last car I used, but no traffic

If I close and reopen the game, it goes right back to spawning a frozen camera underwater with no car, then if I go straight to another file, everything works except the camera

Opening another file first, then the corrupted file, is now a shortcut to getting a functional camera and being able to spawn a vehicle right in the garage. I did this, then tried to complete a mission I already completed before as a means of further testing. When I reached my chosen mission (Unpaid Fines) I found that all my previous attempts and progress at that mission specifically (and no other) had been erased. Upon recompletion, the end-card showed with options to retry or leave, but none of the flavor text/images/whatever. Finished another race that had become available, got no end card, had to leave manually. Went back to try unpaid fines again and get the last star back, got an end card but still no "flavor". Went to garage, added another (100% vanilla) car to my collection, came back to Unpaid Fines to "lock in" the car I added and switched to. Completed it again, this time got no end card and had to leave manually.

Switched to known good profile, everything worked as normal, albeit I haven't actually tried any missions with it. Switched back to bad profile, still no car, but camera functional.

Whatever broke when I loaded it from a WCUSA freeroam session made it impossible to spawn a car "the normal way", which seemingly then locks up the camera (unless you've already got camera functionality on that map before you load) because there's nothing to attach it to? And it's obviously tied to this profile, but in some weird way which ensures that loading a backup copy of the files doesn't help. I wonder if it's somehow tied to new career features added in 0.28, since the "career" tab in the Esc menu won't work in that profile, but then refueling will, and like I said, it at least functioned earlier today.

Unless it broke earlier, that's why the new missions weren't showing up, and I didn't find out until I tried to load it from a freeroam session.
