What were the saddest events you might have experienced?

Aside from the loss of a family member, what were the saddest events you have experienced?
I'll start: AirBerlin's last flight (was about to cry at work)

 

When my grandfather died. Either that or when me mum tried to hit me with a piece of railing.

Talking about that, sad for me was also having met only 1 grandmother(my other grandmother and my 2 grandparents died way too early(40-50yo). Adding also that my only alive grandmother is in a delicate health state

Well one of them is when my first friend died at 19 from brain cancer.
Addition: It was his 2nd time fighting it.
