I have BeamNG running on the lowest graphics settings. I am going to try to upgrade my computer but am not sure of what part to upgrade or what to upgrade it to. If I upgrade the ram to 16gb, will that help? Or a better graphics card? I get around 10-20 fps in the game. Please help. I love the game but my settings make it look bad.

do you actually have a graphics card? That screen doesnt show, besides the onboard APU one.

    The CPU, awful.
    RAM wont make much difference

Definitely a graphics card, onboard cards are a bit notorious to give....well...substandard frame rates...how much you willing to spend on a card?

Thats a quad core processor so a GPU would be required correct?

Checked model number against HP site.

Garbage 300W PSU, no GPU, that low end CPU in a socket with limited/no upgrade choices. Its not looking good for you mate. You'd need a new motherboard to upgrade the CPU. You'd definitely need a new power supply to upgrade the GPU, probably need that if you wanted a beefier CPU anyway. Its a low end machine.

Its an AMD APU, lower instruction throughput for a given clock speed than AMD FX series, which is already low. Its crippled with the AMD shared module architecture. It is frankly a piece of wank, hardly the dogs bollocks. I'd put it on par with an i3 at 2-2.5ghz.

Ah right, so in terms of upgrades its better to start again from scratch...with a new Intel based machine...

Pretty much what I expected. Is it worth spending money to new parts for it or should I just get a fully new computer.

I'd honestly recommend new power supply, motherboard, GPU and CPU. *should* be able to reuse that case. Can definitely reuse the hard drives and ram.

Far more cost effective to build rather than buy a pre built machine.

Any suggestions? I would like to not pay that much but something that will dramatically improve game play. I think I would rather have an Intel system but it doesn't really matter. Also in terms of installing all of it, would I have to do it or would I have to pay for someone to do it for me?

You would probably be better off with a new PC. About the only thing you can salvage from the current one and still get good performance is the 8gb of RAM and the storage drive. How much are you willing to spend on a new PC?

@Spaceballs the Username I would probably be willing to spend up to $1000. I don't know if you can still get something good under $1000 though.

That's terrible. Give me a few minutes and I'll get you something under $1k that will destroy BeamNG.

You most certainly can. My computer, monitor and accessories cost less than 1k, and it does 1080p60FPS at high settings in BeamNG.

    There's a few good setups you should consider;

    i5 4460
    GTX 960 OR R9 380

    i5 4690k
    GTX 970 OR R9 380x

    i5 6600k
    GTX 970 OR R9 390

these would all get you excellent FPS, pair it with the appropriate motherboard for about $100 and a decent power suppply for $50, and that's around $550 that gets you a powerful rig.

Add $20 USD for a wireless card / adapter if you don't run off of wired network. You'll also need to get a copy of Windows but there are many places to get it for less than $100 especially if you are a student in some high schools or universities.

This. Take my parts advice along with the storage drive and RAM from your current PC, and build it yourself. There's tons of tutorials online and on Youtube. If you don't care about faster loading and boot times, you can save $70 off of the parts list I gave you by not getting the SSD.

Ok sounds great! will the ram I have be compatible with that motherboard? Also, I have windows 10 on my current computer. Can i transfer that over? Or do i really need a new copy.

Yup. I looked up the model in your original post (OP) and it uses DDR3 memory. And while most Skylake motherboards moved onto DDR4 support, the specific one I picked is compatible only with DDR3 memory, so you should be able to use it.
