This is a discussion thread for my mod, the Wentward Transmission Pack, which brings a collection of real life gearboxes to the DT40L!
    https://www.beamng.com/resources/wentward-transmission-pack.25345/

    In this thread, you can
    - Discuss the mod
    - Ask for help
    - Give suggestions
    - Ask questions
    - Or just ask how progress is going and have a chat

Currently, the latest version of the Wentward Transmission Pack is V6.0, which should be released onto the repository soon!.

This thread will be used as an announcement thread, aswell as being a discussion thread, so you can ask for help in here, compared to the reviews. (It makes it easier for everyone)

The official video for V6.0 has been released!

Hopefully it won't be long until it's on the repo!

Thanks for the bug report. I thought I fixed that before I released it, but it appears not.

I'll fix it, along with the W3As reverse whine glitch, in the newest hotfix. I'll let you know when it's updated.

    Thank you!

The voith also sounds a bit too high pitched after around 1925-1950 rpm but i narrowed it down to the engine

Yeah, that is the engine making that sound. It just didn't sound right with the 2000rpm sample, it was missing the screaming part Voiths are known for. I replaced it with a 2100 or 2200rpm sample I believe, and tried to pitch it down to match the 2000rpm, but the extra harmonics make it sound higher than it is

I tried to record some of the Voith sounds from an MAN 19.320 with a Custom Coaches CB80 body, as that's what I tried to model the Voiths shifting logic to be the same as too. You can hear my kickdown recording here if you want. I did use some samples from OMSI though, only to fill in the gaps, such as the idle whine etc

As for the rest, I recorded the ZF 604 axle from an MAN 18.310 with a BusTech VST MK3 body, and the ZF Ecolife axle from a Mercedes O500LE Custom Endeavour. The ZF Ecolife input sound is just the stock BeamNG helical gear whine boosted in volume, and the Allison input is a modified ZF 502/C sample.

Any other questions, please let me know!

Hey everyone! V6.1 has been completed, and the video below shows what's been changed and what's new. It's mostly bug fixes from V6.0, but there's a few new things added

You can get early access here on my Patreon, or wait, and it will be on the BeamNG repository soon!

This was one of the bug's that are now fixed in V6.1. Thanks again for the bug report!

any chance you will add voith compatibility to your other engines and or make a cummins ISBe engine?
unless your already in the progress of making something.

Adding the Voith sound to the default engine required me to record all the engine sounds, do a bunch of EQ and editing in post, and make another engine. I don't have a problem doing that, it's the fact that I need to make a new separate engine for the custom voith sound. If I was to do it for all of my engines, you'd have around 12 new engines cluttering up the engine selection menu, and it'll look messy in general. If BeamNG let us use engine sound blends on the transmission, or let us create fmod events, this wouldn't be needed and would be so much easier

I am working on an Cummins ISLe5, which actually sounds really good. I tried to recreate the sound of our Iveco Metros, which required me to add an inline 4 sound ontop of the ISLe. It just adds that little bit of grunt if that makes sense. Paired with an Allison T-375, it's basically the real thing

i have a stupid idea to get around the engine sound blends by adding a engine slot in the transmission a bit like the torque converter slot or there could be someone that would probably code a transmission too allow the use of engine sound blends. but set the friction and the torque it creates top next to nothing

I'm not bothered what engine you add Voith compatibility along as long as we can have another Voith compatible engine to use.

I remember seeing this thread that was asking how to use two engines, one just for sound, which is what I need. But that thread has been incomplete as the OP had an outdated script, and no new dual engine powertrains have been made to copy code from.

I think I remember a mod that added a slot in the additional modification slot to change engine sounds, despite the engine, so I could have an V8 sound with in I4. If I can find that mod, I could put it into a slot in the Voith, something like "Sound emitter" or something, and have one for each engine.

This ties in well too, for my future plans, to release a configuration pack of real life bus powertrains that I've been on, as no one will have to change any slot for realistic sounds.

I never thought of doing it that way, and I forgot about the mod that could, but I'll check it out soon.

    Thanks for that!

I want to thank you so much right now!!!! I just tried it, and you can indeed switch out the sound blends of the engine using a jbeam slot! So basically, every engine can have it's real life Voith sound, which can be equipped in the engine's slot "Voith Sound". Thank you so much for that idea! After I finish the new ISLe5, I will create the new OM936, and that'll be the first engine to use this technology, and every other engine will be updated!

If you want, I can give you credit. I will mention you in the update thread, aswell as on the mod page if you like!
