Pretty simple idea. What weird quirks do your personal (or family's) car(s) have? I'll start with my own: 2nd gen Toyota Tacoma: -Because I lowered it, I have about a quarter-inch of travel in the front suspension before it hits bumpstops. -The passenger-side window goes down far slower than the driver's window -The knob for the volume control does pretty much whatever it wants to 2nd gen Honda Odyssey -Pulls ever so slightly to the right and nobody has been able to figure out why. -Rear hatch only opens with the physical key (remote lock doesn't disengage it anymore) -The middle-left seat is missing and nobody knows why. Nobody remembers removing it or anything. lol 2012 Ford Escape -Has eaten 2 torque converters in 42000 miles
My dad's Grand Prix have a 6 track CD player. His Monte Carlo have a rear spoiler but it's FWD, and his Silverado LT have a custom hood.
There are not many quirks about my volvo I can speak of really its stock but it does love spinning the front right tyre in the wet like a mad puppy As for the Jaguar same again stock nothing changed on it, got explosive acceleration on it when you plant the foot into the engine block but it does have an electronic locking rear diff on it but that came from the factory on all supercharged jaguars...
My Escort has automatic seatbelts. They are the worst idea ever. The driver's side one was deactivated by the previous owner, but the shoulder belt latch was in the wrong place when he did this, so the belt is always slightly in the wrong place since I've been too lazy to get an allen wrench and crank it all the way back. As the deactivation was accomplished by pulling a fuse, the dome light doesn't come on when you open the driver's door, though it works otherwise. The passenger-side unit works fine, and my coworker (now supervisor) who's always bumming rides off me despises that thing. The hatch and rear quarters are Rhino lined. Possibly to hide massive rust. I don't know. It came with a full set of well-treaded, pre-studded snow tires, but it has three of one kind and one of another, which is why I haven't put them on yet even though the front tires on it now are completely hosed. I hope the kind I have three of is still in production, because I don't think I can afford to buy and stud three new tires. It came with a pair of ultra-bright halogen fog lights that are on swivel mounts on top the front bumper, but they're horribly mis-aimed. I call them "finder blinders" - bird finder, traffic blinder. They point up and to the sides at an angle that is useful for precisely nothing. Parking brake came pre-abused and is no longer useful for ripping skids, but it will at least hold the car in place once it's stopped (unlike the Sunbird's, by the time I messed up the engine). Left rear door will fall off if you try to open it. This is because the first owner's son tried to close it, only to have it stop before closing fully, then refuse to open again. Instead of taking a well-thought-out look at the problem, he went around to the other side, climbed in, got on the seat, and kicked the door as hard as he could from the inside, and the hinge gave way before the latch did. Indeed, with the driver's side door open, you can see a gaping hole in the door metal where the lower hinge would have attached, and three empty bolt holes on the frame where the same hinge would have attached to it. Since the damage was to the door and not to the frame, this could theoretically be fixed with a trip to the junkyard, assuming they have another Escort wagon. Interior smells like lung cancer in its truest form. Using it for landfill runs would probably improve the smell, in all honesty. In theory, it should be possible to V6/AWD swap this car by taking advantage of its Mazda roots.
Mine has the same prob, give a little pressure on the know, works for me anyway, mk1 Ford Focus -sometimes the engine needs 3-5 sec till it starts -sometimes rattle in the passenger seat -door look system makes a little 'click' noise after 20 mins of driving -tailgate doesn't always lock at 1st try -you can only open tailgate with a knob on the key, or by use the key and a keyhole to unlock it manually, or with a knob next to the steering wheel, but you have no knob at the tailgate itself -speedo numbers start at 20 km/h (no 0 or 10) -you open the hood with the key under the front badge, by turning the badge to the side -in center console between the seats are 3 knobs, 2 for seat heating the seats and one is unused in the 1.6l, but used in 1.8l and 2.0l for ESP on/off -dimmable dashboard lights (only in Ghia trim) -maybe something else, which i write later if i remember
Sometimes with my civic, ill push the shifter into first but it wont fully engage into gear, then 2 seconds later the gear knob will magically spring back into neutral. It will only get into gear if I reingage the clutch. Weird huh
Not so much faults as oddities. Only car i've been in without a warning for headlights being on if you open door without key in ignition, instead, removing the key turns the headlights off. The wiper stalk rather than being pushed upwards to turn wipers on to higher speed, you push downwards
