Volvo 850-855 1990-2000 (Not my car in these pictures, grabbed from google for presentation purposes) Yes! As the title says, im working on a Volvo 850. This will be my first model ever created and since i felt like there was a big lack of Volvos in this game, i thought i'd take the task and make one myself . Not only is the body style attractive, but it is just the overall charm and the fact that i own one myself that really encourages me to atleast try. Im a total newbie when it comes to blender, but im learning on the way.. Plans: Create body panels, doors/bonnet/tailgate/fenders [x] Create frame [x] Lights, trim pieces, wings, etc [] Create subframe [x] Create the engine/different engines [] [] Detailing [] Textures[] ... more to come.. ~Eventually~ Make a sedan version Create V70 front Tuning parts, turbo bumper... etc 850 T5-R ... More as i progress Progress: 5/11-2016 It's been a while since i updated you guys on the progress, a little bit of everything has been done... so check for yourselves. Textures aren't 100% yet though. 4/9-2016 Almost all of the lights are done, just need some tweaking... enjoy! 29/8-2016 Coloured some of the materials so i could get a nice view of how it could look like... can say that im more than impressed by the result.. The front grille is also soon done, just need some small tweaking to make it perfect.. 17/08-2016 So i accidently took some time and made the door handles, roof racks, the sexy spoiler aswell as basic side mirrors which aren't done yet..! The roof racks still need some work too so what you see here is prone to change Feast upon these renders, and give all the feedback you can give me... thanks! 15/08-2016 The progress i made in the twitch stream this evening... trunk is done, and the backbumper is now fully finished... reworked it a little! Hope you guys will enjoy this still have the struts and doorwells to do, but its finished otherwise..! Might stream some more later, so just keep your heads up for that! 15/07-2016 Just some renders, not really an update but i figured i'd post it here too... 28/05-2016 Sooo... done some small things with the time and patience that i have had, almost done with the inside of the car, exterior wise it's basically done, details have to be made though. Also starting to give the body panels some thickness to the fender as you may be able to see on the picture below.. still got the bumper and bonnet to give the same treatment to but, it's alright... enjoy! 18/05-2016 Been working all afternoon and now late in to the night, and it might not look like much, but i have been starting to edge-loop the front of the car and i've also figured out how to design the back-end. Not much more to say really... 4/05-2016 After not having much time to work on this because of personal stuff, the progress have ended up being slow... but i have been working on the front end for some time now, and this is what it's like for the time being, still got to sharpen some things up aswell as getting some smoothing done. 26/04-2016 Another small update for you guys, finishing off the A-, B- and C-pillar aswell as the grooves for the insides of the doors. now moving on to the front unibody section... 19/04-2016 Figured i'd start making the B-pillar and some of the modeling for the doors... personally im quite pleased with it since i had a hard time figuring out how it actually looks like, the front part will be done eventually 17/04-2016 Doing lots of work right now, body is pretty much done, some small things left but separating has been done... now over to detailing. 15/04-2016 As done as i can be with the exterior really... now over to smoothing and correcting things and then separating the parts and lastly some detailing: trims, handles, spoiler, roof racks etc... Tips on how to smooth and correct certain things is greatly appreciated! Would love some tips of how to smooth some lines out, and what method that is the best to round certain edges without smoothing the entire car, and vice verca: having edgy corners while having the rest of the car smooth so to speak... Give all the feedback you want! 14/04-2016 Again a small update, almost finished with the exterior of the car.. its the separating that needs to be done and trim parts have to be made aswell before i conclude the body to be done, here's some pictures! 13/04-2016 Worked tirelessly for many hours straight, got the sides and the front of the car done as you can see... Added cutouts for the doorhandles and some shaping of the body, also filled everything to show you a very rough representation of how it's going to be Still not done yet as you may can see, but its something! 12/04-2016 Okay! So i decided to redo my entire car, i came to the conclusion that my wiremesh was terrible (and i mean it, utterly garbage, maybe some can agree with me on that). So by reading around and trying out some new stuff, i am very happy to show you the progress on the redesign! It's not much, since i really started doing this today and by using this technique, im more precise and things turn out the way i want them to, but at the same time it takes longer for me to get something done.. i may seem like a madman for scrapping my old design but my OCD is killing me and i can't release something that is "half decent" so to speak. Anyways, see you in the next! 11/4-2016 (2) Got around doing the back of the car, things are getting done and im ready for some sleep this time with some perspective pictures Still some crappy smoothing, but nothing i know how to fix.. 11/4-2016 As you may can see i haven't really got that far, i just started yesterday and the mesh is a little problematic since i can't figure out how to smooth it properly and align things perfectly yet. So tips and help is greatly appreciated since i really want to make this thing into something! All the help i can get is welcomed as i am a newbie! Please give me as much constructive critism as possible and list things that i can improve, im going to need all the help i can get. Any reference image that could be to good use is helpful as well! See you in the next..!
there was a Volvo 855 made for rigs of rods that was pretty detailed with beautiful distruction i used it one my channel valkpedia dont know the link anymore sorry for small image butt look on the channel and you will find the vid
Thank you all for now guys Both the normal 2.4 non-T 5 engine and the normal 2.5 T5 engine are planned to take a place in its engine bay.. possibly other ones aswell
Could you also make a 850 T5-R? The 95 model had a T5-R and the 96 model had a 850R. I like the T5-R a lot better. It was quicker than the R and had a fun creme yellow. I have an 04 V70R (avatar pic) and the R's are really close to me. I would love you for life. I already do though because you are making the 850. I made a wiki link above for any help!
Yes i think i had that in ROR aswell, such a nice car to drive around in... sort of where i got the motivation to make one for Beamng I will try and make every single model, so the 850 T5-R is to be expected to happen since its so rare, especially in Yellow.. fun fact, us swedes call it the T-Gul and i really love it --- Post updated --- Update posted in Main Thread! Progress: 11/4-2016 (2) Got around doing the back of the car, things are getting done and im ready for some sleep this time with some perspective pictures Still some crappy smoothing, but nothing i know how to fix..

Yes, i updated the main thread with some of the wireframes too, it doesn't look right to me really... EDIT: Posted the wrong pictures, will be correcting them as i get home
http://www.beamng.com/entries/40-A-look-at-vehicle-workflow-Part-1 I'll just leave that there as a tip...
Thanks for that! Might try and remake everything based on that, I feel like i overcomplicated my design
I'm loving the progress! I'd like a WTCC variant once this is done, but for now just get this done! It's awesome!
I'll be posting the correct wireframes as soon as i can, posted the wrong ones earlier.. --- Post updated --- It should be expected to see that one too
So, i was just going to ask if there is a way to save this wireframe since it really looks uneven, cant figure it out how to make the edges straight?. Thus i keep changing one node after the other making it look even more terrible... Not only that but this happens as well if i try and make it thicker, like giving it a little volume... though it only happens with the shade smoothing Is shade smoothing something i should rely on or is the subdivison modifier - edge split tool something to use instead? Been thinking of remaking the entire model, making it a little less polygon-ish.. I don't know why but i seem to enjoy older vehicles in beamng. It just seems to suit the game , for me
