Why does the game spawn vehicles facing me?...

I'm driving on a technical track (like Mike22 Super Stunt).
I make it past a troublesome point so I "Ctrl+R" to reload
the vehicle, so I can restart from my new "checkpoint"
and it always spawns facing me...

I've not seen any threads on the issue, I can't
    believe it bothers only me.?

Is there a setting I can change in the prefs?

do you mean it changes directions? if so, that's because of the way the spawning system works, it currently re-spawns vehicles to always face north, no matter what, if you attempt to use the editor to rotate them, only the visual mesh will move, the jbeam stays in the same position

I mean, it doesn't spawn the same direction the vehicle was
in when it was reloaded. (Ctrl+R)

I guess I would have to find the in game compass to verify
the whole "only spawns North" claim.

Not sure what criteria that logic would follow...
Not saying it's not true, just can't think of why it would be.

Because the Beam physics system doesn't currently support rotation of Beam structures based on Torque cues. The communication is entirely one way, the physics system (BNGV) can communicate commands, such as mesh position and orientation, to the graphics engine (T3D), but CANNOT receive instructions or take information (like camera orientation) from the graphics engine. As the other poster said, this is the same issue that prevents vehicles from being rotated in the editor. (BNGV has no way of knowing that the T3D editor has changed the rotation of the mesh. The fact you can translate the vehicles in the editor is a "hack" of some description, like most of the game ATM. At least this is how I understand it.)

Thank you for explaining that in depth for me.

I hope they fix it in the "Race" update because
it would be silly to be in a "Race" and have to
turn around on the track because you can
    only spawn facing North. :p
