I currently have a PC that was built to be cheap, I am planning on either upgrading this PC or saving to buy a better one. My question is: Which would benefit my FPS/Performance best in BeamNG, a CPU upgrade, upping to 8gb of RAM or a new GPU?
    Current Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz
    RAM: 4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 332MHz (5-5-5-15)
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard 0AACh (XU1 PROCESSOR) (Exact hardware specs here: www.findlaptopdriver.com/hp-0aach-specs/)
Graphics: 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 (Palit Microsystems)

If I upgraded my ram, I would have to stick with DDR2 as I cannot afford a new MoBo ATM. I would be buying this ram (x4): www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-Desktop-Upgrade-240-pin-PC2-6400/dp/B001196H3S
For a new CPU, I have to stick to socket 755 CPUs, So I could get a Core 2 Quad, or just a 3.5Ghz(Or around that figure) Dual core Pentium Etc.
    Options:
    Dual core @3.2ghz: uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80571e5800
    Quad @ 2.4ghz: uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80562q6600
    New GPU option: www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Nvidia-GeForce-Graphics-Express/dp/B00KO2404Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1433660401&sr=1-1

I've used a Core2 Quad Q9550 (socket 775) and it performs okay in BeamNG. On low settings (1080p) between 45 and 60 FPS with one car. It was paired to an ATI HD3870 X2 1GB.
The Q9550 is around 25% faster than the Q6600.

However, you could upgrade your CPU, but then your GPU would bottleneck..
Maybe a second-hand HD 6850/6870 would suit you. Not very expensive but 'okay' performance for BeamNG. I'd skip the GT740.

Plus, if you upgrade your CPU and GPU, you should also upgrade your PSU I think.

    I wouldnt bother at all.
I would instead save the money. Buy a new PSU, Mobo, CPU and ram. Then reuse your drives and case, ditching the GPU. Integrated graphics on current gen Intel and amd are more powerful than the gt610 (which literally only exists to add a monitor to setups without enough connections otherwise and isn't so useful for actual hardware acceleration)

Probably the best thing to do indeed.

Yeah, no point in spending money on LGA775. My advice is, save money for a cheap mobo, RAM and buy CPU with integrated graphics as a start. You can use your old HDD, case and power supply if it's good enough till you save some $.

My friend got a PC with all the parts new but only rarely used, cost him £250 and can play GTA 5 on normal-high at 60FPS. His specs:

    AMD Athlon x4 860K-
MSI FM2 MOBO (cant remember exact model number)
    1x8GB HyperX Fury red
    MSI R9 270 OC
    EVGA 500W PSU
An old case scavenged temporarily from an old PC

You not need much these days to build a PC and you can really save your self some money. Don't buy new if you have little money, buy used and don't bother upgrading that piece of crap, just get a new one.

I think you should just save up for a whole new bang-for-your-buck PC with a budget around $800-1200. My build in October of 2013 was just over $1100 and can run BeamNG fine on high settings with big maps.

Essential(ish) parts list of my build for reference:

Haswell i5-4670k @ stock 3.4ghz (currently not OCd cause problems with that)
    EVGA GTX760 SC 2gb w/ ACX Cooler
Some Corsair 650w PSU, 80plus Gold
2 kits of 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance for a total of 16gb
Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 (revision 2.0 to be exact)
Some Cooler Master case for like $60
    1TB WD Caviar Blue
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Cooler

You could definitely make this system or similar to this for under $1000

I'd rather go for an AMD CPU and a GTX 970 or R9 290/X GPU. Would be a much more balanced build.

Would a AMD FX-4300 (Quad core) @ 3.8ghz with 8gb RAM @2133 (DDR3) and my current Nvidia Gt610 2gb, clocking at 810mhz run BeamNG acceptably well (30+fps mid to low settings)?
Planning to just get a new Mobo, case, cpu and ram, recycling Drives and graphics. I have a very definite price limit of £180 or $280(For all you Americans out there). BTW I realise that the graphics card will be the bottleneck, but anyone know what sort of performance I will get windowed at something like 1280 * 720 with these specs?

No. The GT610 is an abomination of a graphics card, huge bottleneck.
