either he means he gets to the end of his "infinite" gear ratios and tops out, and doesn't realize that's supposed to happen, OR... he means a little thing i had happen to me with a custom engine i made, only the one time ever though. it was pretty torquey, had a really small and responsive high-boost turbo, and a 6500rpm limit. it accelerated and held the rpm that i had set it to, but it gradually started to get more 'noisy' in the rpm that it held, and eventually acted like a secondary rev limiter (but still accelerating). eventually, the engine pushed past it and i reached my top speed. no video and that engine is long gone but i can try to replicate it if the op doesnt post a vid
Hm dunno, if you feel like spending some time on this, I wouldn't mind having an actual case where it doesn't work correctly
I've been trying for a little over an hour, and unfortunately I can't get it to happen again, no matter what I try. If this happens again in the future, should I just post about it in the Bug Reports forum section?
