I know, real flamewar starter here- but I don't get the craze for black plastic on cars. I think chrome makes anything look much classier and upscale than blackout.
it depends on how much trim is on the car, and the execution of the "blackout". if you're talking crappy spray-painted black finish, then of course it's worse. Personally, I quite like body-colour-matched trim in a lot of situations.
Body colour > Black plastic > broken/missing entirely > chrome. Chrome just makes everything look cheap and nasty. I hate seeing American cars clad in tacky chrome. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.
Go look at 2008-2014 Jaguar XF. That is a car that deserves chrome. Body coloured looks better than black plastic but they're too ordinary.
Depends on the type of blackout. Plastic? yeah, chrome wins. Body material of the car? definitely blackout. <----This is better than this ---->
Like you said, black trim > plastic. It also depends on where you put the chrome trim and the car you put it on. Like I said with my post, the Jag looks really good with the chrome trim but a Camaro, come on! Other luxury cars look good with chrome treatment. There's no point blacking out a Rolls Royce or a Bentley if you want to look rich. Chrome is classier and proves you're not 17 (unless you are).
Blacked out rolls is the most popular around where I live. Still looks rich to me. If anything, blacking out the car makes it look classier and MORE expensive to me (and the price reflects that). Chrome luxury cars are dying.
depends on the style you want your car to have too i like chrome trim, but like plastic trim is better on cheap cars, i wounldnt want to see a honda civic all plastered with chrome i get it on highend sports cars n stuff
