*Insert shocked face here* I hate the Murano. (I think the R34 looks like the angry drunk R32 modernized.)
Atleast I can look at the R34 without screaming "WTF!" But, that would happen if it was the Murano. (Well, mostly the 2015 model.)
This. I think western car culture in general needs to go on a low-Japan or even Japan-free diet until local styles and flavors have a chance to reassert themselves. JDM was interesting right up until it became the new normal. Someone on a Canadian forum almost 10 years ago said it best (I'm paraphrasing here, but just barely): "Skylines were fascinating until there were 14,537 of them on the streets of Calgary. Now it's just another car from the 90s that you see as often as a Sunfire." While things haven't gotten quite that bad here in the US, JDM has still become annoying at this point. I also think the vast majority of Japanese cars just plain have no style until you start adding aero kits & whatnot. Everyone thinks the 4AG sounds amazing; I just think it sounds slow. It sounds better than a typical I4 buzz bomb but it still sounds slow. Crossovers are cancer. Just pure cancer. So are electric cars. I don't care how fast that Tesla goes; if it's silent and has a single-speed gearbox, then it's not a real car as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather have my stupid little Escort than a Tesla. Paint > vinyl wrap. The best wrap is the one I can't tell is a wrap. The concept of a diesel passenger car needs to die. NA versions are pathetically slow; turbo versions weren't that hot themselves until not long ago. On top of that, they poison the well for ICE cars in general - people (and, worse, governments) go gaga over their fuel economy, then 20 years later when their major cities look like 1970s LA and everyone is having asthma attacks, you get ICE bans and model-year-based taxes/restrictions that force the lower middle class and people who don't like debt into public transportation. I don't agree that stance is the modern equivalent of the 1950s lead sleds. The customs and lead sleds took already-stylish cars and made them (usually) even more stylish, while still maintaining some functionality as an automobile (usually). Meanwhile, stance is about taking cars that have no style but passable agility, and making them both ugly (sometimes, anyway) and unwieldy. The two show signs of opposite philosophies, too. The customizers of the 1950s wanted to make their cars look as perfect as was possible; only the smoothest bodywork (often smoother than stock) and best paint finishes were acceptable. Some stancers still do this - the style often (annoyingly) referred to as "USDM style" seems to have elements of it - but others like tacked-on overfenders and treat smashed-up bumpers and underbodies as status symbols.
I don't remember anyone saying that stance is the modern equivalent to lead sleds. Stance doesn't really have a equivalent, unless maybe Slam.
Is it "unpopular" to think that making the Corvette mid-engined is a stupid, stupid idea? Because it really is.
The Modular Ford is a good engine. Doesn't matter displacement, 4.6L, 5.4L, 6.8L V10... They're good engines. Torque the spark plugs to spec, use anti-seize, and replace the cam phaser bolts on early 3 valve models of 5.4L, and you have yourself a reliable engine that will last hundreds of thousands of miles. I've seen it with my own eyes. My workplace had a 1998 E-150 van with a 5.4 and it went beyond 400k miles on the original engine and trans. It's still running today as the vehicle of choice for an ex-employees landscaping business. Tows 3 lawnmowers on a heavy steel trailer along with backpack blowers and weed eaters in the cargo area. Torque specs exist for a reason, people. Learn them, use them, love them.
I think this is a nice, big, comfy sedan, despite having little similarity's to it's 1960's counterpart.
I strongly dislike extremely lowered cars, especially if it has that annoying "be patient I'm lowered" sticker. Nothing is cool about it, it is stupid and looks stupid too. You butcher your own car and made me suffer too by waiting for your slow ass to go through speed bumps or bad roads.
The recent push for automotive manufacturers to make cars that look the most "angry" is utterly idiotic and resulting in some very ugly cars, in my humble opinion.
There's nothing wrong with sports electric/hybrid cars and there's nothing wrong with the F1 halo and whining about it seems rather childish to me.
