For a while now I've noticed that my UI has been delayed, basically I will do something that should affect the UI like revving the engine and the tachometer will change a couple seconds after the engine actually revs. From the little testing I've done it seems connected to framerate, the UI runs at 30 fps by my understanding and the higher that the game runs the worse it gets. And if I lock the framerate to 30 fps it works fine.

This problem has only come up after I started playing on a new monitor which is 4k where my old monitor was 1080p.

Running the game at a higher resolution will require more 'cyber-horsepower' to keep good framerate. The jump from 1080p to 4K is noticeable.
If there's performance loss, the UI will be the first to be affected, as the game itself has higher priority.

    Said that:
    - Keep your UI resolution limited (Options > Graphics UI Resolution Limiter). Unlocked at 4K is not reasonable to have.
    - If Win10, check if you have Game Mode enabled. It can cause severe performance issues with the UI due to how Windows deal with the processes in that mode.

I have exactly the same problem. The UI was fine before the latest update, now it's running like garbage. All UI apps (tacho, speedo, etc) lag like crazy, and the menu is basically unusable. The framerate of the game itself seems fine.

Tried changing priority and affinity settings of the UI process, no difference. My specs:
    • Windows 10 (Game mode disabled)
    • 16gb RAM
    • i7 6770HQ
    • Radeon RX480 (eGPU, connected over Thunderbolt)
    • Running the game at 2560x1080, with UI resolution set to 1920x1080.
I've tried launching beamNG in safe mode and the issue persists there as well.

I wonder if it could be GPU or CPU computing power limit triggering something or then that Windows 10 game mode.

What is performance app showing to you guys experiencing issues?

Using two monitors I just was getting slightly dizzy, but UI seemed to perform well, so it would be useful to find some common thing between all machines having UI lag issue, then it might be easier to find out what is causing laggy UI.

Okay, so I've actually just figured out my issue! And it wasn't even being caused by beamNG (or at least, not directly).

Just last night I set up a Philips Hue RGB strip around my desk, and set it up to colour sync to my display via the Hue Sync app. Coincidentally, beamNG updated itself around the same time.

Turns out that the beamNG UI really does not play well with this colour sync app enabled. Which is a little odd perhaps, it doesn't seem to appreciably increase CPU usage when active, and the gameplay itself seems unaffected. Weird. Guess I'll have to make do without RGB whilst playing!

I've had this problem aswell until I turned on Vertical Sync and FPS Limiter in the settings. Now the UI doesn't lag at all, so go ahead and try that.

I have this problem pretty severely on my 4K laptop. I already have to drop the laptop's screen resolution to 1080p to run the game at a decent framerate, so the UI is forced down to 1080p as well. It seems the longer the game is running, the more prominent the issue is. I just observed approximately a 5-8 second latency on the UI. It seems if the framerate of the UI drops at all, it doesn't catch back up like it should, as if updates from the game are queueing up at the game's FPS and popped one-by-one at the UI's FPS without skipping when the UI lags. I have VSync on, and the framerate limited to 50 FPS. I tried setting all four UI processes to "High" priority, and that did not help either.

When you have limited fps to 50 and have vsync on, you get something like 30fps on screen while game is still being rendered as 50fps.

Having FPS limiter at 63 or so and vsync on with 60Hz monitor refresh rate could work better or then have FPS limiter as 33 or so, also if playing full screen and Nvidia GPU, you can keep in game vsync off and choose from nvidia control panel half rate vsync that does 30fps thing.

As some have got UI lag cured by turning vsync on, it kinda appears like if it would be hardware limit induced delay, but then it may be that it is only happening with Win10 as I haven't found way to make that happen even slowing CPU to 2Ghz as I don't have Win10.

If it would be hardware performance limitation induced, then running on normal or low graphics without ssao or reflections with vsync should allow most computers to run game without being hardware limited and slow UI should not happen.

If it still will happen, then issue needs to be Windows 10 related software thing.

I forgot to mention that I am not running the game at 4K, it's 1080p as I have always played the game just on my new monitor. That what's most surprising about it is that the monitor has changed but that's it, the game is still running with the same settings as always and on the same computer.
