So basically I'm going to make my own tunnel asset and was looking at the textures used in the city tunnel for Italy. "It has two textures, a dark brick and a white brick, I'll see which ones they used." <-- ignorant me. Because there's only ONE and yet there is some data somewhere that says to be bright/dark and I can't find it! Example attached. I posted the other day asking how the boom arm was blue and white, even though the texture itself is just white. I guess in Maya/OtherApp there is some sort of "per-face" colour attribute that I've never seen. I'd looooooove to know more about this as it'd save about 500x the texture usage =D Thanks for anything --- Post updated --- Well I kept looking around and I've found that there are color meshes, and color sets. Figuring it out as I go, tracking down one thing to the next, so I guess I've just gotta find a "Maya Color Sets" tutorial. I had no idea this was a thing, and I've been using Maya for almost 20 years! Hah, amazing. The more y'know huh? --- Post updated --- OH. MY. GAD! I did it! I swear 99% of my problems are solved by posting on a forum, THEN forcing myself to help myself out. It's like I need to see it posted to figure things out - I apologize hah. SO cool, and opens SO MANY OPTIONS for texturing!!
Strange. Making my own object and painting colours doesn't work. There's a setting somewhere that I'm missing
It's the same material, but giving you different color in the 3DSMax viewport? Maybe the viewport shading itself is doing that? (shadows/lighting) Or maybe check if it's something related to vertex painting (if you touched that in your 3DSMax project)
I just woke up from a dream: turn on vertex lighting on the model in the game. Fingers crossed! (Also... Maya! None of that peasant 3ds stuff muahaha) --- Post updated --- Nope, going to the material setting and checking off, "Vertex Colors" isn't the trick :'( So Nadeox I'm trying to do the same vertex painting trick used on the italy city tunnel, where the walls are tinted white and the ceiling tinted darker. Only when I export my model, I'm clearly exporting it without a proper flag somewhere. I'm basically asking for 3d work help instead of game specific so I'm trying to figure it out myself since it's not BeamNG related. There must be a setting somewhere on the model itself, "assign vertex colours when exporting" or something. --- Post updated --- I've gone through virtually every setting on the color settings in maya on both the italy city tunnel and my tunnel, they are all the exact same! The export settings are default, and when I export the city tunnel they work, when I export my tunnel, colours don't show up. (I keep going between, "colour" the CORRECT spelling, and, "color" the way the engine/editor spells it. Sorry) I can modify the colours on the italy city tunnel and export and they show up in game, but when I do any colour work to my model, it doesn't show up. I've tried deleting uv's, changing bake sets, changing overlay/blend/add/multiply etc.. still not happening. There's SOMETHING SOMEWHERE I'LL FIND YOU!! =D
