I made an adjustment on some code in lua I made tire tracks behave different on sand vs asphalt watch the video attached, now I just need help changing the material of tire tracks with lua, if someone is interested and have experience with lua can help I would appreciate that. these mods were created specifically for ( Toxic Sand Dunes map ) Enhanced Smoke & Sand particles is also linked here: You can download mods here: Note : if u want to use it on other maps u have to set ground models (skidmarks: true) it is recommended to disable Darat mod in case you play on other maps. Darat.zip for particles: Updated ADAR.zip for TireTracks: place both in repo folder
This is brilliant. I've been saying this game needs this for years. Shame I'm rubbish with Lua... I'd help if I could. I've had some luck with chatgpt helping me write Lua, if that helps...
Such a simple feature, how couldn't the devs do this in the many years of BeamNG being released? Btw I would absolutely help, if I wasn't shit at modding.
are the tracks supposed to look like normal burnout marks? i have both mods in the repository. am i supposed to put em in the map files? it just says add both to repository folder which i did so idk. yea tried putting em in map files to didnt work idk what to do now
yes , its the default tire texture, if you drive normally it will look fine, note this tire tracks mod is alpha/experimental, u can try to change the texture by watching the YT video I posted in this thread
Gonna have a play with this next week. Really feels like something that will make it into the vanilla game.
First of all, this mod is awesome, been waiting to get to do some sand dune drag racing for a while This mod seems to mess up some of the original maps though, some of the asphalt is now sand, I can phase right through some buildings and barriers and such. If you clean the cache it seems to fix it until you play the map again, then they become messed up again. I see someone has left a review mentioning being able to phase through a bridge in Utah but I just wanted to let you know that there are more things that seem to be affected, am looking forward to seeing if the update fixes it. Best of luck and I hope you keep updating the map, it really is great!
yeah I've noticed this issue, unfortunately I can't upload the fix until next week, because of the size of mod, I would have to contact them every time I want to upload an update, but I already fixed the issue
My tire tracks do not show up with depth like the ones in the videos/pictures, any advice? Tried putting the zips in the repo folder and in the art folder.
You could try changing the time of day. If it is 12 noon, then there won't be much displacement for the shadow from the normals. Just a thought.
/0.29/art/ if you don't have art folder like this path you have to create one, also tracks are just illusion it doesn't have real depth, it just replaces the default tire tracks.
