So post times you or family members have been on your local news, story has to be about you/them. Unless you have video or photos, no stories about just being in the back ground. In the 80s my father & grandfather were jogging at Towradgi Beach when a woman asked them too help a man who was near the shore holding onto the side of a boat. My dad just thought he was tryin to pull the boat in but when he ran over the guy had a huge gash on his face and was actually clinging to the boat, my dad pulled him in and he was taken too hospital but someone said there was another guy unaccounted for. About 10 minutes after police arrived someone spotted him and my father and the officer there had to swim out and retrieve the body. My father received a certificate for it. It made it too the local paper but they over exaggerated what happened. The news paper said something along the lines of "Mr [name] swam 20 kilometers out too sea guided by the WestPac Helicopter (Life Guard chopper) Spotlight, to retrieve a body". Bloody news stations.
My grandfather worked for Nasa during the 60s when we were launching people into space left and right. He has in name in a capsule or some shit on the moon. I'm sure that was in the news somewhere. Actually I bet my grandfather was in the news a lot. I know he's been in more than a few newspapers. A very interesting man he was.
This may be sad, but my dad was on the news when he found a bottle of used syringes like you find at the doctors office, on the side of the road. So, he called up the news station and told them about it and they came over and filmed about it.
Not really that much for my family although my brother has been mentioned once in the news something to do with Rugby Union but thats been about it really.... but other than that...my great grandfather donated to the Burns Museum, Robert Burns Duelling pistols back in the late 1970s before his death in December 1977...but thats been about it really...
Uh, once when I was like 9 my Lego FLL team was in a news bit at the station where we demoed our NXT bot. I remember that like 20 feet from where we did the demo there was a kitchen where they did a cooking bit. They made caramel popcorn. It was burnt but it still tasted good.
I was in the news a few times, mostly just random reporters catching random peaople, and i appearently have luck on that. It was strange feeling being on the screen with few hundereds thousands people watching you when i watched myself home. (It was on the state owned CT1 channel, in the main news)
I was in the local newspaper when I was in elementary school for the Fine Arts Day activities at my school. I had a chance to be interviewed by the newspaper this year for the new experimental program I enrolled in this year, but I was sick and couldn't make the interview. As for family, none that I know of, but my friend was a few years ago. I couldn't find the news story and video, but I'll try harder when I get home. Basically his German Shepard ran away and came back with a mangled leg and a bite mark too big for the few coyotes around here. Later that night they saw a cougar roaming their backyard. The thing is that cougars are no where near this region. There was actually one spotted not too long ago in a neighborhood not more than a couple miles from my house. The biggest cats we have indigenous to this region are domestic house cats. We used to have the rare bobcat until the coyotes came in and drove out the bobcats. It's rather scary to possibly have a cougar loose around. It isn't necessarily a wild one too. Back in 2010 a cougar escaped a park a little ways from here and not too long after that a cougar attacked my friends dog. The escaped cougar still hasn't been found. So it might be the escaped cat. Here is the article. It shows the picture of the cat, and it mentions the report of my friend's dog being attacked. http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20140821/NEWS/140829915
My friends mom was recently elected the DA. She's been interviewed and shit by a bunch of news stations. Then like 3 weeks ago her step son went missing so that caused quite a new response.
There are occasionally articles about our scout troop in the local paper, usually with a picture of all of us doing something.
This summer my youth group rolled into a poor little coastal town and fucked shit up. That was in the town's paper.
In 2007 i was with a group of people on a trip to washington dc and nyc, and there was a significant news presence when we were laying wreaths at arlington national cemetery
Not gonna specify why (for safety reasons) but a lot of people i know have been on a single bbc tv show and i may also be included in it, not as a main person but as a passer by, its being aired throughout the next month or so. Which is why i don't know if i am in shot at any point. But considering the scale of it, it is very very likely.
My old school turned down the opportunity to host the next series of "educating <location>". Not surprised, we really were not a bad school at all...
Um, interesting story here. I was born 3 months early (January, I was supposed to be born in March) Well, the hospital I was born in had just opened a new Maternity ward and was doing a tour of it with a news crew. Well, my Mom and Dad were hurrying (obviously) and just busted right through the interview. That's my story. I think places I've been have been on the news and I know I've appeared sometimes as I'm at football games but not anything up close.
Ah screw safety... The program is our school on cbbc. The whole school was rigged up with always recording cameras for half a year as well as a camera crew. It was a bit weird tbh. Its even weirder because last year i mentored a lot (around 1/3) of the year 7 students involved in the show.
twice, once when i was about 7 I visited some hospital with my school. Second time was in secondary school my group within the class did some water saving project thingy.
