With the loss of profile posts and the inconvenience of PMs, many people say it's too hard to just talk to multiple people quickly without starting a thread. There is a chat, though. It's between "wiki" and "What's new?" If you have a question or something you would have put as a status update, just post it there. It may seem slow now, but that's because not many people use it. Go use it.
Yup. It was (is) being pretty quiet (since IRC is not as appealing as fancy-GUI chats probably), but if more people start to get on, it would get really nice. Still remember it from the old RoR days, and it was active and pretty entertaining.
If chat link would look like this, it might help, but it probably is kinda hard to make happen if software does not support it.
Didn't know it still worked tbh, it's hardly been mentioned anywhere on the site. Kind of like the homepage.
Also I remember we had chat module on forum I moderated really long time ago, must be 10 years ago, not sure if such still exist? It floated next to forum on right and you could enlarge it, it was addon for forum software if I remember correctly, but I have trouble remembering yesterday, things 10 years ago are hit and miss most of the time:
No, what I meant by we was we admins who did run forum that had nothing to do with beams of any kind, not even games. Probably none here has anything to do with that board and it has been now dead for a long time. It was JS based chat thing and quite handy though, also there was no IP addresses visible as it was just applet on forum page, you just chose name and that was it, of course these days security must be much tighter.
This is why I don’t use the chat. Heck, copy and paste that into google and you know where I live within two mile accuracy. I’ve tried. Too creepy for me.
This is something like chat we had, shoutbox rings the bell, not sure if such would be more welcomed as I don't think this broadcasts user's ip: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/taigachat-ajax-shoutbox.115/
