Dear devs- I would like to request a bit of initial feedback regarding the mod review process for vehicles and maps. I know this is still being developed but it would be nice to have some thoughts as to what the eventual aim of the developers is. My initial assumptions are that the process will obviously involve removing clutter and unnecessary files from all mods and looking for incorrect filepaths and content conflicts. Perhaps a general mod review workflow you guys are thinking about? I think it would be prudent for this to give people a chance to process and prepare for the scheme and could no doubt help alleviate future headaches for everyone. Thanks!
The review system is there to: Prevent non working or broken mods Check for errors/issue and assist the modder fix them. We actually test the mod ourself, and if we find issues that are quickly fixable, it's most likely we will do that ourself, else we guide the modder in the process. We don't want it to be seen as a wall that prevents users to upload their mods, instead we encourage users to do that. But a mod that is obviously made with low-effort or alike is more likely not getting approved.
Thanks for the reply Nadeox. I would invite any other BeamNG staff to share their thoughts on this subject too. My general opinion is that this process will be helpful to the modder in more of a guidance capacity and with set parameters/rules. No doubt someone posting a map or vehicle with complete junk effort and or messy/non-existent efforts in the very basic fundamentals will be told it won't even see the light of day without modifications. In the end I hope for a fair, refined and compassionate approach to mod reviews and a fair, open-minded and humble approach from modders.
I think it would be a good idea for the mods or whoever tests the mods to have something, to tell the uploader what is wrong with the mod as to why it would be denied.
We do inform the user if we find errors in the mod or if we cannot approve a mod for certain reasons.
