South Dakota when?? I'm kidding, but it's basically the same thing but less desert-like. This map looks great.
Actually when I started making this map, I didn't think of Texas immediately, I just wanted to make a map with the dry grassland plains theme, and when I thought of naming it, I was also thinking of other great plains states, but ultimately decided to settle on Texas because why not
The settlements that will be featured in this map are almost ready and I can show them. There will be 4 towns, a village, and a few smaller dirt road settlements Main town The main town will be the default spawnpoint of this map. It is as typical as it can get, with the main street being lined with businesses, with parking lots in front, most of them being car-related. And then there is a suburban-type neighborhood where people live peacefully. Old town The old town, which is actually the first town I finished, is located around the center of the map, and it's main street is lined with shops, townhouses, warehouses, and regular houses. It also has a small neighborhood with regular houses, and a gas, and a fire/police station further down the main road North town The north town is located at a junction of two side roads, and it has some houses, a inn, a classic car dealer and some shops. South town The south town has certainly seen better days, its roads are in very poor condition. In terms of businesses this town has a gas station and a few shops. Village The village is located deep in the forest, far away from any paved road, and it has a quite a few houses, a church, and an ornate building Small settlements These settlements are located in various locations around the map, they only have a few houses, and that's it. I will show only one of them, so you will discover the rest once the map is released.
Are you going to incorporate the vanilla Industrial Site and/or Derby Arena maps into this map? I've long thought it would be great if the devs could merge the two maps together and add additional content between them to create a new freeroam Texas map. But if your map will be all original and not incorporate either I'm still equally excited, as there are no real "middle America" maps available for BeamNG.
Today I added AI roads - traffic and parking, attempted to add working gas stations (may or may not work, couldn't really test them as for me gas stations didn't even work on vanilla mods, mods and no mods), finished the road signage, added some more dirt road settlements, and added more decorations like more road cracks and fences that divide roads and crop fields On the technical side, I managed to massively shrink the map file size, from an enormous 4 GB, all the way down to 1.2 GB, and after zipping it goes further down to 500ish MB. The map is nearing completion, and will be probably released very soon.
Is your issue related to the gas station prompts not showing up? You might have challenge markers disabled, head to Options > User Interface and enable 'Show challenge markers' Map is looking beautiful by the way!
