This was the first car related game I ever owned for the PS2 back in 2005. If I never played this, I probably wouldn't be into BeamNG.

Sure it is. What do you think of the game? Did you own it? What are some good memories from it?

this is one of my favorite game ever. i love this game so much and ive been trying to rip the models for months now without success. i really want to see those cars in beamng lol.
ive set up this game with a ps2 emulator and played 4 player splitscreen with my friends a few months back. its still one of my fav game today. i still play it occasionally.
i love the soundtrack as well. i wish they made a new one of those. maybe a remastered edition or something for next gen consoles and maybe a pc port that supports modding.
Imagine, Test Drive: Eve of Destruction 2. god damn i want this to happen.

I still have my copie of the game, used to play it every now and then till my sister indefinitely borrowed my ps2 and moved 6 hours away by car.

Nearly any modern pc would be able to run a ps2 emulator smoothly, so you should be able to play it.

I recommend PCSX2. Grab the latest Git build if you want to have the most up-to date version possible. :)
You can play games directly from the disc, or you can make an iso and run it from that. An iso is the better option.
You will need PS2 BIOS files to get it to run. You're on your own getting those.

Most guides on YouTube on how to speed things up are likely to be incorrect and may break things in some games. I'd advise you to mostly just stick with the default settings.
If the audio is stuttering (because the game isn't running fast enough) and it bothers you, configure the audio plugin and change the synchronizing mode to "Async Mix".
Don't use this option if you want to play rhythm games. :p

Really didn't expect too many people to still play this game, but they still do, and I still do. Glad to see that.

Hard to beat early 2000s games like this.
