You can increase the 'meters per pixel' value.
The resolution of the heightmap is capped at 2048 ( I read some people getting it to 4096 ).

Meters per Pixel will change the scale of the map. Higher scale, less heightmap resolution.

So if you took a 256x256 map, and then changed the meters to pixel to a really high number, you would get a really big pixelated heightmap? Kind of like how Minecraft looks?

    Not pixelated, but smoothed.
You basically won't have enough resolution to make small potholes for example.

Would it be possible to make it pixelated?

That depends on the heightmap file you use.

Thanks for the reply. I'll see what it does n how much of a loss in detail occurres. Is it best to just stick with the 2048 block and maybe run a road mesh out the terrain block. Just to give it that sense it's not always on a squared block.

256 block with a a bunch of 2048 mesh roads behind it.

I tried that, making other terrain blocks makes unnecessary .ter files and loads the maps file size to a huge amount for no reason. its better to just manually place rocks trees and objects outside the block, as you will see in my new map Kings Keep when it gets released. keep everything possibly in 1 or 2 ter files and only a few forest files, the map can be still huge, and the file size will be oh 150mb zipped.
If the step up from 2,048 is 4,096 with a huge loss in detail, ill pass. but if its still workable with the overlay.dds provided in terrains folder its worth a shot.

Meh Good enough for Canada... it could work for this one, but if you want nice detail id recommend 2048
