so if you crush a car with anything "even sun gravity" the suspension stays SPRINGY!!! ever dropped a car from a height or driven over it with a bulldozer or seen it in a video? well the suspension doesn't stay bouncy! it dies and sproinged it doesn't keep springy... and skip to 1:20, you'll notice upon being driven over the suspension doesn't keep suspending cause the springs "and whole suspension system" are broken. they need to add realistic suspension in the sameway they added realistic engine performance!
The suspension breaks realistically for me. Springs will stay springy unless heated or held in a position for a very long period of time (years, even decades, in the case of automotive springs). It's other parts of the suspension that break, such as struts, and cause the springs to not be connected in a way that they work. It takes an extreme amount of vertical force to break these parts, therefore, cars can take hard jumps with little suspension damage, as long as it lands level.
well i guess its hard to show without having a giant vehicle to drive over them :/ but using mods like the belaz and driving over a car the suspension then just props right back to normal...
That's the Belaz's fault then. Talk to the mod other, it's not an official bug. Also, when the vehicles spring back up, are you sure it's not because the entire body is flexing downwards under the Sun's immense gravity, and just returns to shape when the force is relieved?
well if you put a car into the sun and then the springs and everything crushed downwards onto the sun.. do broken springs fix themselves?? to spring even brake?? and yes very much the belazes fault but what about crushing the car under say... a Large crusher? or a tild board??? they don't crush it but they are default game vehicles so shouldn't they work in that logic??
It takes an absurd amount of force to break a spring via vertical compression. It just stops compressing when it's touching. Take the spring out of a pen, push it together between your fingers. It stops when it's all touching, right? Try compressing it more. It doesn't change. However, extension, vertical or lateral, can render the spring useless. If this pen can be thrown away, take the spring and pull it apart. With enough force, it won't return to it's original position. When you use sun gravity, it compressing the vehicle's springs. They compress until they can't compress further, and they stop. They don't break.
mhmm... when you push on a spring really hard it shouldn't it sproing and become like no pressure endurance and just mush under force? well then why did they break in the video ? "simple question"
Sproing? I have no idea what you mean with your first question. As for the second one, they probably don't break. Other parts of the suspension (and the entire car) break, causing the springs to become useless.
why isn't this the case in beamng? "sproing is a stupid word sorry i should have used something more intelligent"
In the video, the springs got compressed all the way down, and then got bent further, so badly that it wont bounce back properly Take a leaf spring as an example. The crusher, if it's powerful enough, will snap the spring. For a coil spring, it could have tangled itself, and it cannot extend itself again. In the game, coil springs are just a line connecting 2 nodes, and therefore do not get tangled and got stuck. Try H45. The rear spring is a leaf spring, and you can snap that with great force. Edit: I didnt really watch the whole video. I just want to provide an explaination
Springs keep their functionality... shocks are what generally snaps, which actually makes axle tramp occur after your shocks are "shot", realistically the opposite of what you said is true, after damage it should become more bouncy and reek havoc on the handling over bumps. Mostly that kinda already happens tho.
