So this is super unrelated to BeamNG, but I have a really random question and I was wondering if anyone had ideas on what this sound is. This has only happened twice, the first time a few weeks ago, and the last a few minutes ago. What happens is near my garage area of the front of my house there is a massive really loud bang sound on the roof like a stone hitting it at full speed or a heavy ball landing on the roof. I dont see anything afterwards, but it scares the hell out of me. I don't really know what it is for sure but I have a few ideas. 1: My neighbour accidentally hit my roof with a ball because she always has her cousins kids over who play with footballs (which is kind of unlikely) 2: (Pretty unlikely as well) Something fell off of a tree (maybe a branch or stick or something) but this is pretty unlikely as the bangs were at the front of my house and the nearest trees to my house are at the back. Anyone have any ideas? <UPDATE> I think I solved it. I think because birds fly over my house and there are pine cones around my house the birds might occasionally drop a pine cone on the roof and it would sound INSANELY loud. So that's what happened. Thanks for the ideas
Piping can do weird things. Animals can do weird and very loud things. Raccoons, birds, and other animals might be up to blame. Where I work, there's a nest of osprey in the cell tower and they constantly throw rocks and other junk down. I don't know why they like to throw stuff, but when it hits the roof it is loud. I'd chalk it up to birds, especially since you said there are trees nearby. It could also be thermal cracking, but if it is that loud then your house would probably have collapsed by now. Thermal cracking is usually fairly quiet and you can only hear it inside.
Only a few eucalyptus trees out the back of the house, so no I think it might be birds maybe but thatd be pretty loud, I guess. I don't get raccoons because im literally in Australia xD and I have a few birds that fly around. I think it might be one of them, but it literally sounds like a shotgun around 50 meters away. Hella loud. I doubt the bird would be able to do that without breaking a few bones. Pretty strange.
