I have an idea on how to make the Barstow faster. That would be a spoiler. And with the spoiler comes downforce, which make the Barstow faster as its rear wheel drive. Maybe a spoiler is coming for the Barstow in the next update? Just an idea though I would make a spoiler for it, but I'm not very good at making mods
Spoilers do not make vehicles faster, quite the opposite. They increase downforce and hence grip at the cost of increasing drag which then slows the vehicle down.
No, they dont, they may allow faster acceleration due to traction loss, but then careful manipulation of the throttle allows the same thing. They will always decrease top end speed.
I'm not sure but I would think that they could potentially allow a higher top speed IF the car its on is hitting its max speed because of traction and air resistance rather than gearing or lack of power, that shouldn't really happen unless you did something insane like modded the pigeon to have drift tyres, thousands of horsepower and lots of drag, but if you did that it might allow for a higher top speed with a spoiler, but even on a barstow with the worst tyres, the drag engine, and a longer gearbox a spoiler would only reduce top speed, however if you put a nosecone on it like the Daytona had that could give it a higher top speed and still provide downforce(although it would be at the front instead of the back).
People confuse wings and spoilers all the time. Strictly speaking, a spoiler helps reduce turbulence in the back of a vehicle, reducing drag. A wing uses air to create downforce, improving acceleration, cornering and braking at the cost of top speed.
but it still wont. The spoiler adds to drag, if the cars top speed is limited by air resistance then you are only worsening the problem. Top speed is otherwise not limited by the amount of traction available. You can still hit the max speed with pigeon wheels on an SBR4, just with careful throttle control.
I'm aware that it would add drag, but I was thinking that the extra traction would be able to make up for it and I was referring to really extreme circumstances with next to no grip but a ton of drag, in which case the wing wouldn't really add too muck drag compared to the rest of the vehicle, but I have a hard time believing that traction wouldn't affect the top speed under any circumstances, I'm not saying that it would have an affect in any reasonable circumstance but if a light weight vehicle was going 500 mph, had massive sails like a boat, no downforce, plastic wheels covered and was driving on ice it would eventually reach a speed where the drag from the air provides the same amount of force as the wheels are possible of producing, then downforce would most likely help with top speed, however the drag that a wing gives might be too much to counteract the traction it gives.
