Hi, I like driving in this game and I like trucks, but driving a T-series on a G27 wheel is a pain with not being able to shift past 6th gear without using paddle shifters, so I've tried to create some sort of splitter gear box (sorry If I called it wrong) I've changed the amount of gears to 6 and added a slightly modified D-series transfer case. It works just like in pickup truck, but is there any way of making it sort of realistic? (as it is now a low range 6 is slightly lower than a high range 4, so is there a way of making it so the gears are in this pattern: 1L,1H,2L,2H,3L,3H... etc.?)
This is not possible yet. This will be implemented soon anyway. I wrote a thread a while ago explaining all this to the devs. EDIT: https://www.beamng.com/threads/semi-style-range-splitter-boxes.38818/
Ratios wise you just need to figure out the math and you can replicate a splitter or rangebox. The main shortcoming of this approach is that you won't get proper display of the gears, and the range box doesn't preselect with the next gear, so you have to flip the range box while the clutch is in and about to shift. This can help you understand how to choose ratios. With a single rangebox device you could simulate a splitter or rangebox, but to have both at once you won't have independent control bindings (without some lua work).
Thanks, I'll try to this once I get back from holidays. It is going to take some time,as it will be my 1st attempt of doing some more advanced modding
