I had an idea for a car. A 70's Ibishu coupe, the predecessor of the 200BX. The 100AZ. Sort of like a 300ZX. I don't have much else to add, let's see what you guys can come up with.
First, use vehicle suggestions. Second, why are you saying "let's see what you guys can come up with"? That is like saying "what would happen if my friend crashed his car into a pole? And then calling your friend and saying "CRASH YOUR CAR INTO A POLE!".
The 300ZX was made from 84-89, not really a 70s design (although the chassis is heavily based off of the 280ZX). Also, the 280/300ZXes are moreso large, softly sprung grand tourer (like the MK3 Supra), rather than the more raw sports coupes. A true predecessor to the 200BX would be something like an AE86, a Nissan S12 200SX, or my favorite- the 79-85 RX7. The Nissan S12 is literally the predecessor to the S13 which is the obvious basis for the BX. I've had a few different posts in the Suggestions thread, and they all include a new 80s sports car in some form or another. I'd love to see something similar to an FC RX7 but an earlier one would be more separate from the 200BX. Actually, a 1st or 2nd gen RWD Celica would be the ideal 70s version of the BX.
Gibberish to me, but okay. I heard AE86, Which is a priority for BeamNG. --- Post updated --- Made me laugh. The reason I didn't put this in Vehicle Suggestions is because the devs never EVER go there for suggestions.
Yes, this is would be a fun type of car to have. I'd want there to be a 3-door hatchback though. Why use that thread if its useless? The devs aren't going to pay any attention to them, so why bother? At least this way, they'll see it, and may consider it.
I think the closest thing we have to an AE86 would be a RWD converted 80's pessima, the grand marshal or the gavril barstow
Not quite. The AE86 is a sports compact that was only available as a 2-door coupe and a 3-door hatchback, which I believe is a type of car that BeamNG doesn't have, so this would be something fresh. The Pessima is a midsize sedan, the GM is a fullsize sedan, and the Barstow is a midsize muscle car. With those classifications, I don't think they come even close. I believe the closest car we have is the Ibishu Covet, which is a sub-compact only available as a hatchback.
The only similarity the covet has is that its kinda small, has an I4 and is unibody. the way you look at how you classify the cars I agree, the GM, Barstow and Pessima at first seem nothing like an AE86. HOWEVER if you examine them closer you'd realize there are more similarities than you'd think. The GM is a body on frame car, however the game doesnt seem to count the body and frame as separate parts which may mean it performs more like a unibody car, and it has a live rear axle like the AE86 but admitadly is a bit heavy, the Pessima with rearwheel drive would probably be of similar weight, chassis strength and engine but has full independent suspension, the barsow is partially unibody, somewhat small, not too heavy, has a solid rear axle and the I6 seems like it would be somewhat close to what the AE86.
If i had a say in this, i would vote for 86, S12, or the old celica used by rally with the castrol livery (cant remember the gen). Either that, or screw that and make a replica of an NSX.
You do have @Bakasan's WIP AE86 JDM mod but he has been working on it for ages and I doubt that it would be released anytime soon.
Fundamentally, I think the 200BX (4 cylinder longitudinal, RWD, almost the right size, unibody, sporty 2 door) is the closest to the AE86. I was actually surprised to learn that the 79-85 RX7 is body-on-chassis.
They are different by weight distro. In fact, i think that the 86 gets a better more rear-based weight distro
The weight on the AE86 is 53/47 (Front-Rear), so slightly front biased, which makes it very easy to drive (and drift!)
Huh. I could swear i read somewhere that the 40 front 60 rear was with the 86, and if not, that it was the optimal track configuration.
Nah, over half the engine is over the front axle, no way it could be less than 50 front. Although the MR2 might have 40-60 given that it's mid engined.
I think its like 45-55. I do know that the NSX goes 57-43 or something closer to 40-60 and it gets advantage of it.
Last I saw there was an AE-86 on some russian modding site that sends you through a bunch of bull to get it.
