I've created a level using HighDef's loaded template, and I'm trying to use the texture painter to create my asphalt road base. The problem is that when I try to paint with the asphaul_prepped road base, it looks more like a white washed poured concrete than the dark charcoal grey roads that I expect it to look like. I'm doing something wrong. I know I am. Can someone please help me to see the error of my ways? --- Post updated --- When I load up another map, I see that the same asphaut_prepped material exists, but it uses a different diffuse texture that looks more like an top-down map. I assume this is what I'm missing? If so, I can easily render out a top down ortho of my original map terrain? --- Post updated --- Solved. For any other newcomers to making materials for maps, you need to provide a diffuse image that covers the entire map of your terrain. Drop the file into your \0.xx\levels\map_name\art\terrains directory, and then change the material's diffuse texture in the materials editor library (within the World Editor) to use the diffuse image you provided. Because I designed and textured the map within Blender, I was then able to set an orthographic camera over the top of the map model and render out the diffuse image to be used. If you wanted to cheap, you could just create an image and fill the entire thing with a single colour, and that would get you far enough too. Hope this helps someone else.
