Me and @Softair (who is currently banned because of shitposting :D) are once again debating on whether or not the bus engine is an inline 4, or an inline 6.

    Proof for inline 6:
    - 6 Cylinder housings

    - Wiki says I6
    upload_2021-2-27_14-42-2.png
    - Uses I6 sounds

    Proof for inline 4:
    - 4 Exhausts connected to turbo

I6 makes more sense for a bus. Also I found a video where it says it's an I6 bus engine but also has 4 pipes: so if we believe this video title then engines like this do exist.

What does the in-game parts selector say? This engine might have that odd exhaust header that some old old V8 engines use, where two exhaust ports converge into one exhaust header pipe

This is the only engine in game that doesn't say what engine it is in the parts selector. But yeah there were V8 engines with headers like this:

The engine looks like the Detroit Diesel Series 50 which was used in transit buses, but it looks more to be a 6 cylinder. We really can't know 100% for sure until a dev tells us or the engine model gets updated to be less ambiguous (which is highly unlikely).

It has to be an inline 6 engine based on the text inside "citybus_engine.jbeam" that references "I6" in a few places and doesn't reference "I4" anywhere.

yeah, some engines (especially industrial/low performance applications, as well as vintage engines) share exhaust ports, as displayed in the video above
also would be unlikely imo for a bus of this size to have any less than 6 cylinders

This doesn't prove anything, these are starter and shutoff sound samples and many engines use other ones than their layout because it sounds more accurate this way due to the engine size

it should also be mentioned that the engine sound much more closely resembles an I6 than an I4, and both sound samples are named as "I6D".

Also according to the intake manifold, the radiator looks like an intercooler
