Welcome! Welcome to my first map, SNES Mario Kart 8 (from Mario Kart 8). Initially, it took me about 2 hours to make this map. I hope you enjoy it! (Plus, I'm new to the forums). Screenshots These screenshots were taken in BeamNG.drive with the highest graphics on. NOTE! There is a known problem where the grass sprouts will grab your vehicle and lock it in place. This is a mesh related glitch. I will release an update for this shortly. I did not rip this from Mario Kart 8, and some details are left out from the actual game to the ripped model. One example is the bridge by the castle. Below is a map from the actual Mario Kart 8 track, not the rip. Future plans a fix for the grass sprouts (prevent them from making your vehicle stuck to the grass) a fix for the alpha channel of the plants a fix for the map not showing up in Freeroam possibly add a flag on top of the castle? or even a racing scenario? Copyrights Mario Kart and Mario are both trademarks of Nintendo. I do not own the rights or am affiliated with Nintendo. This BeamNG.drive map was not made by Nintendo and was fan-made. However, Nintendo made the actual SNES Donut Plains 3 map in Mario Kart 8. The SNES Donut Plains 3 map was ripped by Ray Koopa on the Models Resource.
Oh wow I havent seen Mario Kart in donkeys years....I cannot wait to play this Possible Bug alert!: I cannot seem to load this map it appears in the directory of the mods but when I go to load it in the Freeroam section its not there...whats going on...
When I installed the mod. The mod showed up in the mod directory Then it didnt turn up in the levels list... sorry about putting no screenshots in for you but I thought you would prefer a written report on it
Is the package fixed and shows up in the Freeroam menu? And may I have a copy of the fixed package, please?
Yeah, I know about this. When designing the map, I set the collision to "visible mesh". That's why that happens. Don't worry. I'm going to reupload the map with the grass sprouts fixed so they won't latch onto your vehicle.
I have wanted to see someone make maps from classic racing games like this, and someone is FINALLY taking on the challenge. I would have loved to but I'd be leaving unfinished projects everywher left, right and center. However, the file package that has (fixed) right beside the filename seems to have a bad link, as halfway through download it fails every time. The original package as well as the other one a little ways down on the first page both work, however. Another thing is that there is another problem besides the grass having death metal grip, and that is with the first body of water you encounter. At the end of the first body of water as well as the beginning of the second body, there is a much too harsh bump to climb over to get onto the road again, whereas the ending of the second body of water is properly smooth. Please do fix this with a ramp or something as well once you are back from holidays. Otherwise, you have done some absolutely fantastic work and are very efficient in your designing methods, considering the graphical presentation of the track overall. One or two graphical details can be made even better than they are after the bugfixes are complete, but otherwise you leave me impressed with your skill and efficiency in designing maps for BeamNG.drive.
Hi there, Prizedcoffeecup: I appreciate your feedback. I am fully aware of the death grass and I am working on a redo of the map with better collision, better water, and most importantly: a flag! I'll get back to you once I figure this all out. I made this forum post when I first joined the BeamNG.drive community.
