I think the ETK-800 and the Civetta Bolide could use a sequential gearbox option. I know the Bolide is supposed to be an old 60-70's car, but it would be nice with the option.
Have you ever seen an 80's family sedan with one? No you absolutely haven't, but you can still do it in this game. What is your point?
Of course I have, because they rally and racing versions of these cars The point is that the ETK has no dedicated "hardcore" motorsport version that would justify a sequential in place of the 8 speed auto. I do agree the bolide racing version could use a sequential, and the same goes for a few other racing cars in BeamNG.
I googled around a bit and even the modern BMW M235i/240i Racing keep using the stock ZF8 or the manual. Also, I haven't been able to find anything sequential like for an F30/F31 BMW, so yea, probably not the best car for this option.
Well the Bolide is based off the Ferarri that was made for Group B before it was shut down, so I guess it could have one (I don't know if said Ferarri had one though)
"hurr durr my real cars" It's a game though. The cars are made up. They may be based on other cars but they are made up. Therefore i don't see why you shouldn't be able to add parts to a car in this game that might not realistically have this option in real life.
The cars are closely based off of real cars. The game and developer's want is for a realistic game. There will be mods (like mine) that will have more sequentials, but realism is the dev's first priority. inb4 404
I would actually like to see official sequential gearboxes in more vehicles. I like to have the option for different parts and I've seen sequential's in a number of garage builds. Never heard about one in a modern estate though.
Sequential gearboxes are simplified way too much here. IRL there are basic 3 sequential gearboxes: The standar forward-backwards lever, that requires you to heel-toe downshift to rev match, and to stop giving it gas for a fraction of a second before changing gears up, the ignition cut system, which is the same at downshifts but doesn't require you to stop giving it gas to upshift because the computer cuts the ignition automatically (requires a computer in the car) And the F1 one that uses solenoids, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and clutch levers that changes gears in the speed of light. Those 3 act all different, but a sequential gearbox, specially the non-F1 ones, are very easy to obtain and not a rarity, although for the 80's most race cars had manual gearboxes. It wasn't until the early to mid 90's when sequentials were able to be fitted in anything bigger than a bike engine (in case you didn't knew, sequential gearboxes are the same dogboxes transmission used in most bikes).
I want to be able to select gears with my shifter, not have a gear up and gear down, like in a normal dogbox gearbox
You're not understanding what I'm saying. I want a dogbox gearbox that is not a sequential transmission. Yes there are already standard transmissions that can use wheel shifters, but they don't work like a dogbox gearbox. You have to use the clutch in all of them, unlike a dogbox gearbox.
I am not talking about sequential transmissions. Dogbox gearboxes are also utilized in h pattern shifters, which is what I want
Oh. You mean dogbox engagement on classic manuals? You are aware that its just another way to do synchros anyways, right?
The kind that's currently in the game is probably the F1-style you mentioned, because the shift time is incredibly fast
